Strengthening Market Linkages through Collective Marketing: A fresh start for the Pintuyan Coconut Farmers

The Coconut Farmers Ponod Association and Calungsod Coconut Farmers and Planters Association of Pintuyan, Southern Leyte have taken an important step toward strengthening their market participation by successfully establishing collective marketing within their respective associations.

With support from the DTI–RAPID Growth Project, the two farmer organizations consolidated their copra produce. They successfully delivered their products to Kyle Jazz Coconut Retailing, providing their members with a more organized channel to access the market.

The initiative demonstrates how organized collective action can help farmer organizations improve product consolidation, strengthen their market linkages, and create opportunities for more efficient and sustainable marketing of their produce.

This achievement reflects the continuing efforts of the RAPID Growth Project to strengthen farmer organizations and connect smallholder farmers to viable markets—helping them move from individual production toward collective and market-oriented enterprise development.

Through cooperation, organization, and strengthened market partnerships, farmers in Pintuyan are taking meaningful steps toward building more resilient and sustainable source of income.

PRAC Manpower and General Services is in need of 𝐨𝐧𝐞 (𝟏) 𝐒𝐒𝐅 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟 to be assigned at DTI Southern Leyte Provincial Office.

Qualifications are:
1. Must be a graduate of 4-year business related course preferably (BS Business Administration/Commerce-Management, Economics, Finance, Accountancy, Agri-business)
2. Preferably with CS Eligibility or PD 907 or RA 1080
3. Can effectively communicate in written and oral English language
4. Computer literate (knowledgeable on basic Microsoft Office Programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
6. Preferably with relevant experience

This office highly encourages all interested and qualified applicants, including persons with disability (PWD), members of the indigenous communities, and those with diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and expression (SOGIE) to apply.

On August 25, 2026, tourism-sector MSMEs from Maasin City, Macrohon, Padre Burgos, and Malitbog gathered at SLEMCOOP, Brgy. Asuncion, Maasin City, Southern Leyte for the “TOURISM GOES DIGITAL: Online and Cashless Payment Solutions for MSMEs.”

The activity brought together resorts, restaurants, pasalubong producers, and other tourism-related businesses to learn about convenient and secure digital payment solutions. Representatives from GCash, Security Bank, BDO, and RCBC shared their products and services designed to help MSMEs embrace cashless transactions and digital business solutions. Meanwhile, a representative from DICT discussed E-commerce and Cyber Hygiene, equipping participants with practical knowledge on doing business safely and effectively in the digital space.

The activity was met with positive feedback from the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn and explore solutions that can help their businesses grow. A testament to the activity’s impact, 12 MSMEs immediately availed of some of the products and systems endorsed by the participating financial and digital service providers.

This initiative highlights the importance of digital transformation in strengthening the tourism sector—making businesses more accessible, transactions more convenient, and services more responsive to today’s digital consumers.

Together, let’s make tourism more digital, inclusive, and future-ready!
