The Pating Patrol Workshop concluded at Sanghaya Resort, Bagalangit, Mabini, Batangas, brought together passionate advocates and partners committed to protecting the marine ecosystem in Mabini, Batangasโ€”especially sharks and rays.

This initiative was co-organized by Marine Wildlife Watch of the Philippines, led by Dr. A.A. Yaptinchay, in partnership with Save Philippine Seas, represented by its Executive Director Anna Oposa, and the Municipal Government of Mabini through the Tourism and Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) Offices.

The workshop highlighted the importance of marine conservation, citizen participation, responsible tourism, and strengthening local efforts to safeguard our rich coastal biodiversity. Through collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and community engagement, participants reaffirmed their commitment to becoming stewards of our seas.

The Municipal Mayor, Hon. Noel B. Luistro, extends his full support and unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainable coastal development. Through his leadership, Pating Patrol attendees shall continue to inspire initiatives and implement programs that protect Mabini's invaluable marine resources for future generations.

As conservation thrives through partnership, education, and collective action, sharks and rays are guaranteed a safe haven in the waters of Mabini.

Thank you to the speakers, participants, organizers, and partners for making Pating Patrol Workshop an initial step towards more collaborative efforts in protecting the oceansโ€”because every shark matters, every reef counts, and every action makes a difference.

MABINI DAY 2026 | Celebrating Our Heritage, Honouring Our People

Last July 23, 2026, the Municipality of Mabini proudly celebrated Mabini Day at the Mabini Plaza, bringing together government leaders, partner agencies, and the community in a meaningful celebration of unity, service, and compassion.

The celebration was graced by the Guest of Honor, Senator Risa Hontiveros, together with Mayor Noel B. Luistro, Vice Mayor Nelson Hernandez, the Members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Barangay Captains, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, representatives from various National Government Agencies, and officials and employees of the Local Government Unit of Mabini.

The PNP Maritime Group - SWOS led by PMAJ Robert E. Sitjar Jr., started the program with the Entry of Colors. Their team also led the flagraising and wreath-laying ceremonies. A 21-gun salute was likewise observed by the attendees.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Rice Distribution for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), fisherfolks and farmers, reflecting the Municipality's continuing commitment to promoting inclusive programs and extending assistance to sectors that need it most.

Mabini Day serves as a reminder of our shared history, the enduring legacy of Apolinario Mabini, and the collective responsibility of every Mabinian to build a stronger, more progressive, and more compassionate community.

Together, let us continue working hand in hand towards a brighter future for Mabini.

Happy Mabini Day! Mabuhay ang Bayan ng Mabini!๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ’™

Strengthening the Future of Freediving in the Philippines: The Anilao,Mabini Covenant

On July 21, 2026-July22,2026, the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD) conducted a three-day Focused Group Discussion (FGD) at the LNB Session Hall, Municipal Building, Poblacion, Mabini, Batangas, to gather valuable stakeholder feedback on the drafting of the 2026 Philippine Freediving Rules and Regulations (2026 PFRR).

The consultation aimed to collect qualitative insights and recommendations from key stakeholders to help develop an evidence-based, practical, and inclusive national framework for the freediving industry.

To ensure meaningful discussions, the FGD was conducted in two specialized sessions:

๐ŸŒŠ Morning Session โ€“ Registered Freedive Establishments, Dive Centers, and Certified Freedive Instructors and Coaches.

๐ŸŒŠ Afternoon Session โ€“ Independent Instructors, Free-agent Coaches, and Grassroots Tourism Operators.

The participation and expertise shared by the freediving community played a vital role in shaping policies that aim to promote safety, professionalism, sustainable tourism, and the responsible growth of freediving in the Philippines.

The Municipality of Mabini, Headed by Local Chief Executive, Hon. Noel B. Luistro extended its appreciation to the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD), Department of Tourism, all participating stakeholders, and the freediving community for the commitment to advancing national standards and strengthening the future of Philippine freediving.

One Breath, One Standard. Together, we shall build a safer, stronger, and more sustainable future for freediving. ๐ŸŒŠ
