Despite the heavy rainfall, nineteen (19) barangays of LGU Magallanes participated in the nationwide "KALINISAN sa Bagong Pilipinas" Program today.

KALINISAN stands for Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan. It is one of the DILG programs to inaugurate the branding of the "Bagong Pilipinas", to promote clean and green community.

The participants were the barangay and SK officials and employees and other volunteers of Barangays Anibong, Bacolod, Banacud, Binisitahan Del Norte, Binisitahan Del Sur, Biton, Bulala, Busay, Cagtalaba, Hubo, Lapinig, Magsaysay, Malbog, Pawik, Pili, Poblacion, Salvacion, Tagas and Tula Tula Norte.

All the Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman and all the SK Members of nine (9) barangays of Magallanes attended the first batch SK Mandatory Training last November 9, 2023.

Discussions and topics include Decentralization and Local Governance, SK History and Salient Features, Meetings and Resolutions, Planning and Budgeting, and Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.

Mayor Maria Elena Ramona M. Ragragio officiated the oath-taking of the SK participants at the end of the activity.

The Board of Election Supervisors (BES) headed by its DILG MLGOO Evette L. Forbes as chair, and members Ms. Marites F. Frilles, the COMELEC Election Officer and Ms. Cyril H. Bejison, the Secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan, facilitated the 2023 Pambayang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Orientation and Election yesteday, November 13, 2023 at the MSWDO Conference Room.

The activity was also assisted by the Panel Observers, PNP Chief PCpt. Edwin Dela Fuente, Sir Rico Deona and Dr. Mae San Pablo.

The activity started with the orientation on the SK Pederasyon functions and powers, and the roles and responsibilities of the SK Pederasyon Officers. The election procedures were also discussed by the MLGOO. Ms. Bejison discussed the Internal Rules of Procedure, Sessions/Meetings and Quorum.

However, due to faulty wiring at the MSWDO Room, the BES decided to change venue. The lecture was continued at the Liga Hall.

The election proper started in the afternoon.

Secretary: Eugene L. Ana - Bacolod
Treasurer: Edrian M. Guarda - Caditaam

PRO: Ivan C. Malle - Aguada Norte
Sergeant-at-Arms: Danna D. Ajero - Cawit Proper

ALL the 272 Punong Barangays and Sangguniang Barangay Members attended the Mass Oath Taking Ceremony this morning, November 8, 2023 at the Municipal Gymnasium, Magallanes, Sorsogon.

A welcome message was delivered by Hon. Mayor Maria Elena Ramona M. Ragragio. She congratulated all the barangay officials present.

The Oath Taking Ceremony was officiated by Hon. Governor Jose Edwin "Boboy" B. Hamor after his inspiration message. He emphasized the collective role of the barangay officials in ensuring effective governance in the barangays which will impact the municipality's achievement of its goals and eventually the whole province as well.

Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members also gave their congratulatory messages to the barangay officials.

Lastly, Hon. Vice Mayor Augusto Manuel M. Ragragio delivered his closing remarks.

WHAT: One-Day Sangguniang Kabataan Mandatory Training
Training will be done in 3 batches. Schedule per barangay
will be announced later. However, ALL SK Chairman are
scheduled on the 1st batch.

WHEN: Batch 1: November 9
Batch 2: November 13
Batch 3: November 14

TIME: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

WHERE: Sorsogon State University Auditorium - Magallanes, Sorsogon Campus

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Arrive early (7AM) at the venue for registration. Bring any valid ID.
2. Wear appropriate clothes since the Oath-taking of SK Officials will be done at the end of the program per batch.
