The Municipality of Maitum participates in the 3rd Joint Project Implementation Team–Project Management Team (PIT–PMT) Meeting of Project COMPACT Year 4, facilitated by Mahintana Foundation, Inc. and Save the Children Philippines, on October 14, 2026, at Avior Hotel, General Santos City.

The meeting aims to review the project’s third-quarter accomplishments, assess implementation challenges, revisit municipal action plans, and identify next steps and strengthened partner commitments for the effective and sustained implementation of Project COMPACT.

Through this collaborative effort, partners work together to advance the protection, empowerment, and well-being of children and communities in the project-covered barangays.

ALAM N’YO BA? | Hanggang Nobyembre 2028 ang termino ng mga kasalukuyang SK officials

Sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 12326, itinakda sa limang taon ang termino ng mga halal na opisyal ng barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK).

Dahil dito, ang susunod na Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) ay gaganapin sa ikalawang Lunes ng Nobyembre 2028.

Hinihikayat ang mga kasalukuyang SK officials na gamitin ang karagdagang panahon upang:

✅ Maipagpatuloy ang mga programa at proyektong tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng kabataan;
✅ Mas mapalakas ang pakikilahok ng kabataan sa mga gawaing pangkomunidad; at
✅ Patuloy na gampanan ang kanilang mga tungkulin at pananagutan sa kani-kanilang komunidad.

Layunin nitong matiyak ang tuloy-tuloy na paglilingkod at pagpapatupad ng mga angkop na programa para sa kapakanan ng kabataan.

PUBLIC ADVISORY | SUSPENSION OF FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES IN ALL LEVELS

The Municipality of Maitum announces the suspension of all face-to-face classes in all levels, in both public and private schools, on Friday, October 9, 2026.

The suspension is upon the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), headed by Municipal Mayor James Mark B. Reganit, following the recent earthquake.

This temporary suspension will allow concerned authorities to conduct a full and thorough inspection of school buildings, classrooms, and other facilities to assess their structural integrity and ensure the safety and readiness of learners, teaching personnel, and school staff before the resumption of in-person classes.

To ensure the continuity of learning, schools are advised to implement appropriate blended learning modalities and other alternative learning arrangements during the suspension period.

Meanwhile, work in government and private offices will continue as scheduled to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential services and the continued coordination of safety, assessment, and disaster response efforts.

All residents are urged to remain alert and vigilant, observe established safety protocols, and rely only on official announcements and advisories from the Municipality of Maitum and concerned disaster response agencies.

The MMO-Local Youth Development Office participated in the Training of Trainers for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) Mandatory Training, organized by the National Youth Commission (NYC) and held on October 4–6, 2026, at Green Sun Hotel, Makati City.

The three-day training brought together LYDOs across the country, who are being prepared to form part of a pool of trainers capable of facilitating the SK and LYDC Mandatory Training. The initiative seeks to strengthen the capacity of youth development practitioners by ensuring that they are provided with relevant knowledge, competencies, and guidance in carrying out their roles in youth governance.

This training is a step toward developing local capacity to deliver these learning interventions in Maitum. This becomes particularly relevant amid the postponement of the SK elections, providing an opportunity to further invest in institutional preparedness, strengthen systems, and ensure continuity in youth governance.

Following the training, the office will proceed with the application for accreditation of its training team, with the goal of bringing the SK and LYDC training packages closer to local youth leaders and stakeholders.
