Trade and Grow Beyond Borders: Empowering Philippine Personal Care and Cosmetics Exporters

The Department of Trade and Industry – Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), in partnership with DHL GoTrade and ARQ SME Business Development Center, successfully conducted Usapang Exports with DHL GoTrade: Trade and Grow Beyond Borders – Personal Care and Cosmetics Exporters on 29 May 2026.

The activity marked the third Usapang Exports with DHL GoTrade session this year under the DTI-EMB and DHL GoTrade partnership, which aims to strengthen the export readiness and global competitiveness of Philippine MSMEs through practical learning opportunities on international trade, logistics, customs processes, digital commerce, financing, and market expansion.

In her opening remarks, DTI-EMB Director Bianca Pearl R. Sykimte highlighted the growing opportunities for Philippine personal care and cosmetics products in the global market, driven by increasing demand for natural ingredients, sustainable solutions, wellness-focused products, and innovative beauty offerings. She noted that Philippine ingredients such as coconut, cacao, calamansi, moringa, and other indigenous resources continue to attract strong interest from international buyers seeking authenticity and sustainability.

Throughout the day, participants gained valuable insights on e-commerce, logistics, customs procedures, export financing, and practical strategies to help businesses become more market-ready and globally competitive. The sessions also provided an opportunity for exporters and aspiring exporters to engage directly with industry experts and support organizations that can help them navigate their export journey.

DTI-EMB remains committed to helping Philippine exporters and MSMEs access international markets through capacity-building programs, market intelligence, business matching initiatives, and strategic partnerships that support sustainable export growth.

Strengthening Inter-Agency Collaboration for EUDR Readiness

The DTI-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), through the EU-funded Climate Competitiveness Project and in collaboration with the International Trade Centre (ITC), convened key stakeholders from the government and industry for the Workshop on Digital Public Infrastructure for Supply Chain Traceability and EUDR Readiness.

The workshop highlighted the importance of interoperability, traceability, and digital public infrastructure in helping Philippine exporters prepare for the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR) and evolving global sustainability requirements. Discussions covered data exchange systems, geospatial tools, supply chain traceability, and practical approaches to strengthening readiness and market access for Philippine exporters.

The activity also brought together representatives from the private sector, government agencies, technology providers, and international partners to identify gaps, share best practices, and explore collaborative solutions toward a sustainable supply chain ecosystem that strengthens the global competitiveness of Philippine exports.

Strengthening Philippine IT-BPM Partnerships in Australia and New Zealand

The Department of Trade and Industry showcased the Philippines’ globally competitive IT-BPM and digital health capabilities during a series of business forums and roundtable discussions across Melbourne, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand from 20–26 May 2026, alongside eight Philippine companies.

Held on 21 May in Melbourne and 25 May in Auckland, the business forums highlighted the full IT-BPM value chain—positioning the Philippines as a scalable, high-value partner for digital services and innovation-driven business solutions, particularly in the healthcare sector. The discussions emphasized not only the country’s strong talent base and technical expertise, but its growing role in enabling operational resilience and digital transformation for global partners.

The mission was further strengthened by the participation of PEZA Director General Tereso O. Panga and IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid, who underscored the Philippines’ investor-friendly environment, robust industry ecosystem, and evolving position from service provider to strategic capability partner in the region.

Across engagements, stakeholders expressed strong interest in the Philippines as a trusted platform for accessing talent, scaling operations, and managing increasing cost and capacity pressures, particularly in high-demand areas such as IT services and digital health.

The activities also facilitated meaningful networking and partnership-building opportunities, opening pathways for deeper collaboration between Philippine firms and ANZ-based organizations.

These initiatives reinforce the Philippines’ position as a leading IT-BPM destination in the Asia-Pacific and reflect its continued commitment to building stronger regional partnerships and advancing global services trade.

ICYMI: DTI-EMB and ITC Continue EUDR Readiness Workshop for the Public Sector

The DTI-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC), successfully conducted Day 2 of the Workshop on the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR): Preparing for EUDR Readiness for the Public Sector under the EU-funded Climate Competitiveness Project.

The second day of the workshop focused on strengthening collaboration among government agencies in supporting the country’s readiness for the EUDR and other emerging sustainability requirements in global trade.

Discussions highlighted that many important building blocks are already in place, with several agencies implementing initiatives related to farm registration, geotagging, traceability, commodity monitoring, and digital systems that support geolocation and supply chain data management. Participants also explored opportunities to further strengthen and connect these systems to support EUDR-relevant commodities.

The workshop also emphasized the importance of stronger inter-agency coordination and interoperability across systems, particularly in linking datasets related to land use, forest status, agricultural production, and traceability.

Through activities like this, DTI-EMB continues to work with government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders in helping ensure that Philippine exporters and producers remain informed, prepared, and competitive in evolving global markets.
