PSA, DA solidify partnership to harmonize agricultural statistics for accurate decision-making
QUEZON CITY — Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, emphasized the importance of data harmonization in ensuring that policymakers and other government decision-makers will be able to craft targeted interventions that directly address the needs of vulnerable sectors, especially farmers, during his meeting with Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero on 07 April 2026.
The high-level meeting specifically focused on harmonizing agricultural statistics produced by both the PSA and DA, which serve as a basis for critical decision-making, especially involving the current situation of Filipino onion farmers. Relative to this, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is set to be formalized between the two agencies to establish a coordinated framework for unified, accurate, and timely agricultural data. This also forms part of the PSA's broader efforts to harmonize its statistical data with those of other government agencies through increased partnerships and engagement.
Also present during the meeting were PSA Deputy National Statistician Divina Gracia L. Del Prado, PhD; Assistant National Statistician Rachel C. Lacsa; and other officials and representatives from both the PSA Agricultural Statistics Divisions and DA.
