The Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Manila is the official representation of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Republic of the Philippines.

Official diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Belgium and Republic of the Philippines were established on 4 July 1946. However, records show that as far back as 1837 a Belgian Consul already operated in Manila, and in 1845 Belgium was represented by a Consul General. In 1935-1940, reports about the Philippines were being received from Washington, and a consul was stationed in Manila during

the war. Then in 1946, reports originated from Washington, Madrid and Nanjing, but in January 1949 the Belgian government decided to open a legation in Manila with a Chargé d’affaires, Mr. Guillaume, who later presented his credentials on 25 September 1952 as “Minister of Belgium”.

🇧🇪🇵🇭 One year of remarkable leadership, milestones, and friendship

August 2025 to August 2026. As we mark Ambassador Vladislava Iordanova's first year as Head of Mission in Manila, we look back with pride at twelve months of milestones that have strengthened the ties between Belgium and the Philippines.

From the presentation of her credentials and the beginning of her diplomatic journey in the country, Ambassador Iordanova has led the Embassy in Manila through a year of dynamic engagement, meaningful partnerships, and historic moments.

This year also witnessed a landmark moment in bilateral relations with the high-level visit of Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation Maxime Prévot, reaffirming Belgium's commitment to deepening cooperation with the Philippines across a wide range of sectors.

These achievements took place within an especially significant context. Belgium and the Philippines currently celebrate 80 years of bilateral relations, a milestone that reflects eight decades of enduring friendship, cooperation, and shared aspirations. Under Ambassador Iordanova's leadership, the Belgian Embassy launched its flagship anniversary celebration, Belgian Days 2026, a month-long series of events from May to June that highlighted the best of Belgium through culture, innovation, trade, gastronomy, sports, and people-to-people exchanges.

But these are only some of the many achievements over the past year. Together with partners, stakeholders, and friends of Belgium, the Embassy will continue to build bridges, foster dialogue, and create new opportunities for collaboration between our two countries.
