The Western Visayas BIZCONEX on Wheels – Aklan Leg successfully concluded today, July 23, 2026, at the ABL Sports Complex in Kalibo, Aklan, bringing together MSMEs, government leaders, private sector representatives, and development partners.

The event was graced by Atty. Jobert Peñaflorida, Chairperson of the RDC VI - Economic Development Committee and Area Vice President of the PCCI- Visayas; Hon. Florencio Miraflores, Congressman of the 2nd District of Aklan; Hon. Jesus Marquez, Congressman of the 1st District of Aklan; and Engr. Fulbert Woo, Regional Governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Region VI.

A highlight of the conference was the Fireside Chat with Hon. Jose Enrique Miraflores, Governor of the Province of Aklan and Chairperson of the Regional Development Council VI, who reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to empowering MSMEs through stronger collaboration, accessible support programs, and strategic investments in infrastructure and local industries. He encouraged entrepreneurs to continue innovating and assured them that the Provincial Government of Aklan, together with its partner agencies, remains steadfast in creating greater opportunities for businesses to grow and contribute to the province's sustained economic progress.

As one of the event's key side activities, the Paleng-QR Ph Plus Program was officially launched in Aklan, reinforcing the province's commitment to accelerating digital transformation and promoting cashless transactions among public market vendors, transport operators, and local businesses. The initiative is expected to enhance financial inclusion and support the digitalization of the local economy.

Throughout the day, participants gained valuable insights on green growth and sustainable business practices, the Western Visayas Export Marketing Roadmap, and inspiring success stories from local entrepreneurs. The Workshop on Developing MSME Policy Solutions also provided a platform for meaningful dialogue, allowing stakeholders to collaboratively identify recommendations that will help shape a more responsive, enabling, and resilient business environment for MSMEs.

As emphasized during the closing message of Acting ARD Romel Amihan, the success of today's conference reflects what can be achieved when government, the private sector, development partners, and entrepreneurs work together toward a common vision of inclusive and sustainable economic development.

IN PHOTOS | Cyber Hygiene Trainings in the Municipalities of Numancia and Makato

Now on its third day, the DTI - Aklan Provincial Office, in partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Human Resource Development Foundation, Inc. (PCCI HRDF) conducted another two runs of the Cyber Hygiene Trainings in the municipalities of Numancia and Makato today, July 9.

Mr. Ronald So from the PCCI served as the Resource Speaker of the activity which focused on cyber hygiene including topics on the concept of cyber hygiene and understanding its fundamentals; practical tips to secure mobile devices used in personal or business transactions; and, equipping the participants with the skills to navigate the Internet safely and confidently. Another representative from PCCI HDRF, Ms. Raissa V. Juada, also assisted during the implementation.

Special thanks to the LGUs, the Negosyo Centers thru the Business Counselors, and to all the stakeholders who contributed to the success of today’s runs.

The Department of Trade and Industry – Negosyo Center Makato, in partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Municipality of Makato, invites MSMEs, entrepreneurs, LGU officials and employees, students, professionals, and interested individuals to participate in the Cyber Hygiene Training.

This training aims to equip participants with practical knowledge on how to stay safe online by identifying cyber threats, avoiding online scams, protecting personal and business information, and recognizing AI-generated content.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Aklan Provincial Office, through Negosyo Center Makato, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Makato, headed by Hon. Leoncito Y. Mationg, and the Barangay Council of Cajilo, headed by Hon. Louie Tubang, conducted a Negosyo Center Information Caravan for the MSMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs of Barangay Cajilo, Makato, Aklan on June 29, 2026.
The activity officially opened with a message of support from Punong Barangay Hon. Louie Tubang. An inspirational message was also delivered by Ms. Faith T. Panlican, Security Agent I, on behalf of Hon. Leoncito Y. Mationg, Municipal Mayor.

Ms. Euna Belle R. Ratay, NC-TIDA of Negosyo Center Numancia, provided an overview of the DTI and Negosyo Center (NC) programs and services and presented the financing opportunities available to MSMEs through the Small Business Corporation (SBCorp). Ms. Mae Anne T. Sonio, JBC of Negosyo Center Makato, discussed Consumer Rights and Responsibilities. Mr. Kym Philip I. Ibea, JBC of Negosyo Center Malinao, presented the Fair Trade Laws. Mr. Rodene C. Panganiban, SBC of Negosyo Center Tangalan, conducted the Entrepreneurial and Financial Literacy Seminar.

Partner agencies presented their programs and services aimed at MSME development, including the Municipal Business Permit and Licensing Office (MBPLO), represented by Ms. Charmaine Joy Andrade, Administrative Aide, together with Mr. Gilbert C. Gregorio, Administrative Aide; and Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) represented by Ms. Elma D. Isada, Agricultural Technologist.

NC-IC is a program of DTI that aims to increase the awareness of people about the services offered by DTI through Negosyo Centers as well as the partner agencies, identify MSMEs with operations within the barangay, and conduct business development assistance and/or services in the barangay.
