๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐โ Airport authorities arrested an airport worker at the North Gate 101 Security Screening Checkpoint of NAIA Terminal 3 after security personnel discovered suspected ma*****na concealed in his possession during routine screening procedures.
The suspect, a 28-year-old Filipino station loader employed by the Integrated Workers Service Cooperative (IWSCOOP) and a resident of Muntinlupa City, was intercepted after an Aviation Security (AVSEC) screener assigned at the checkpoint discovered a small red pouch concealed around the suspectโs waist. A subsequent manual inspection of the pouch led to the discovery of suspected illegal drugs and improvised drug paraphernalia.
Following the discovery, the incident was immediately reported to the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP), NAIA Police Station 3 (NPS 3), which coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) K9 Team and conducted paneling on the recovered pouch. The Narcotics Detection Dog โJellyโ gave a positive alert, indicating the possible presence of illegal drugs.
Recovered from the suspect were one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing approximately 0.5 gram of dried leaves believed to be ma*****na with an estimated standard drug price of PhP60.00, two improvised pipes, and two employee identification cards bearing the suspectโs name.
After PDEA conducted validation, the arresting officers informed the suspect of the nature of his offense and constitutional rights in a language he understood. Authorities also utilized an alternative recording device during the arrest process.
The marking and inventory of the seized evidence were witnessed by representatives from the media and barangay officials in accordance with established procedures.
The suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were subsequently turned over to the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) for proper documentation and further disposition. The seized substances will undergo laboratory examination at the PDEA Laboratory Services in Quezon City.
The suspect now faces charges for violating Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165.
