𝐏𝐎𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐎𝐍, 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐋𝐀, 𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐎 | 09 October 2026 — The 39th Infantry (Smash ’Em) Battalion launched the “Year-End Smasherlympics 2026: Forging Unity, Strength, and Camaraderie Through Sports” at its Headquarters in Poblacion, Makilala, Cotabato. The event brought personnel together to celebrate teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, marking the official start of the battalion’s annual sportsfest.

The opening ceremony featured a vibrant Parade of Teams, with contingents from Command, Headquarters, Scout Platoon, Alpha Company, Bravo Company, Charlie Company, and Delta Company. Symbolic activities such as lighting the torch, hoisting the flag, and a ceremonial toss marked the commencement of the competitions.

Lt. Colonel Hector A. Estolas, Commanding Officer of the 39IB, officially opened the sportsfest, urging personnel to uphold discipline, unity, and physical fitness as key elements of military readiness. He highlighted the importance of each individual, stating, “No one is too small to make a difference, and no one is so strong that they never need the help of others.” His message emphasized that every member, regardless of rank or position, plays a crucial role in achieving the battalion’s mission.

Beyond competition, Smasherlympics 2026 seeks to strengthen bonds among 39IB personnel, promote a healthy competitive spirit, and reinforce core values both on and off the field. Participants are encouraged to embody sportsmanship and excellence, serving as role models for unity and service to the Filipino people.

MAKILALA, COTABATO – Residents of Barangay New Israel gained easier access to essential government services during the Serbisyong Totoo Caravan, held on October 1, 2026, and jointly conducted by the Provincial Government of Cotabato and the 39th Infantry (Smash’Em) Battalion (39IB).

Cotabato Province Governor Emmylou "Lala" Taliño-Mendoza spearheaded the initiative, represented by PGO-ELCAC Focal Person Mr. Toto Villasor. The caravan brought together key government agencies, community leaders, and the Local Government Unit of Makilala—including Vice Mayor Atty. Ryan D. Tabanay, MLGOO Mr. Narciso Beciera, and Municipal Administrator Mr. Jose Jun Capareda, who represented Mayor Armando M. Quibod. The BLGU of New Israel, headed by Hon. Eduardo C. Delfin alongside his councilors, was also actively present.

Personnel from Bravo Company, 39IB, led by 1st Lt. Carl John C. Coronel, provided free haircuts through Libreng Gupit and free circumcision through Libreng Tuli, delivering practical assistance directly to residents.

Lt. Colonel Hector A. Estolas, Commanding Officer of the 39IB, emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation in making government programs more accessible to communities.

“This initiative shows that by collaborating across government agencies, security forces, and local communities, we can effectively bring vital services closer to the people,” Lt. Col. Estolas added.

The activity forms part of the 39IB's community support operations and strengthens coordination among government agencies, security forces, local officials, and residents. Beyond expanding access to public services, the caravan aimed to build trust and reinforce partnerships that promote peace and development in remote communities.

During the parade and review ceremony at the Borromeo Field, the honorees received the Outstanding PMA Alumnus Award (Ulirang Alumnus ng Akademiya) in recognition of their distinguished service in various fields of endeavors and designations in their respective Command designations. These milestones in their respective careers are testimonies of their exceptional leadership and dedication that brought honor to the Academy.

In his message, MGEN NAPULI PA reflected on the deeper meaning of a lifetime in military service, emphasizing that a career in uniform is ultimately defined not by rank or position, but by service, shared experiences, and the people encountered along the way. “Looking back, our careers were never defined by rank alone. They were defined by the people we served with, the missions we accomplished together, the challenges we endured, and the countless sacrifices made along the way,” he said.

Addressing the cadets, MGEN Napuli reminded them to remain anchored on their values as they eventually face the realities and challenges of military service beyond the Academy. He underscored that positions and titles are temporary, while character and the impact of one’s leadership endure, saying, “Rank is temporary, positions and designations will eventually belong to someone else. But the character you build, the people you develop, and the legacy you leave behind, that is what will endure.”

The Testimonial Parade and Review marks one of the most significant occasions in the military careers of the honorees as they prepare to relinquish the demanding duties, obligations, and responsibilities they have carried as leaders of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

For decades, they have dedicated their lives to the service of the nation, often at the cost of time away from their families and loved ones and countless missed milestones and special occasions. As they approach retirement, the ceremony honors their unwavering dedication, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions to the AFP and the country, while marking their transition from active military service to a new chapter of life with more time for their families and loved ones. # # #

DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur – Thirty-three Friends Rescued connected with government agencies and community stakeholders during the Digos City Friends Rescued Assembly, gaining access to livelihood and employment opportunities, social welfare, skills training, and reintegration services.

Agency representatives presented available programs, while participants shared their concerns and aspirations for returning to productive and peaceful community life.

Lt. Colonel Hector A. Estolas, Commanding Officer of the 39th Infantry (Smash’Em) Battalion, said that sustained cooperation among government agencies, communities, and stakeholders is essential for meaningful reintegration and lasting peace.

The 39IB’s Alpha “Achievers” Company, led by 1st Lt. Philip D. Servidad, organized the assembly in partnership with the City Government of Digos, under Mayor Josef F. Cagas.

Participating agencies included the Department of Trade and Industry-Davao del Sur; the Provincial and City Social Welfare and Development Offices; the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao del Sur; the Department of Labor and Employment-Davao del Sur; the City Local Government Operations Office; and the Public Employment Service Office of Digos City.

“We remain committed to helping our Friends Rescued lead dignified, productive, and peaceful lives,” Lt. Colonel Estolas added.

The agencies pledged to coordinate livelihood, employment, social welfare, skills training, and reintegration assistance for the participants.
