𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐋𝐀, 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨 – As part of its transition to a new area of assignment, Bravo Battery, 2nd Field Artillery Battalion (2FAB), Artillery Regiment, Philippine Army, led by CPT ROWELL D. MILLAN (ART) PA, paid an Exit Call on the 39th Infantry "Smash'em" Battalion (39IB) on 04 August 2026 at the 39IB Headquarters, Brgy. Poblacion, Makilala, North Cotabato.

CPT MILLAN was received by LTC HECTOR A. ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of 39IB, in a meaningful engagement that marked Bravo Battery's deployment within the battalion's area of responsibility. The visit provided an opportunity to express gratitude for the strong partnership, mutual support, and close coordination shared between the two units throughout their operational engagement.

During the meeting, both commanders acknowledged the valuable working relationship established between 39IB and Bravo Battery, emphasizing the importance of inter-unit cooperation in enhancing mission effectiveness and supporting peace and security efforts in the area.

LTC ESTOLAS conveyed his appreciation to Bravo Battery for its professionalism, dedication, and significant contributions during its deployment. He also extended his best wishes to the unit as it embarks on its new assignment, expressing confidence that it will continue to uphold excellence in the fulfillment of its mission.

The Exit Call reflects the Philippine Army's enduring culture of professionalism, camaraderie, and unity among its units, reaffirming the shared commitment of every Soldier to serve the nation under the spirit of "One Team, One Mission."

𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐋𝐀, 𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐂𝐎𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐎 – PCOL LEO T AJERO, Provincial Director of the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office (DSPPO), paid an exit call visit to the 39th Infantry “Smash’em” Battalion, Philippine Army, on 04 August 2026 at the Battalion Headquarters in Brgy. Poblacion, Makilala, North Cotabato.

PCOL AJERO was warmly welcomed by LTC HECTOR A ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 39th Infantry “Smash’em” Battalion. The visit served as an opportunity to strengthen the existing partnership, coordination, and camaraderie between the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police.

During the visit, both leaders emphasized the importance of sustained cooperation and close coordination between the two Law Enforcement and security institutions in maintaining peace, security, and stability in their respective areas of responsibility.

The 39IB expressed its appreciation to PCOL AJERO for his visit and for his continued support and commitment to fostering strong inter-agency relations. The Battalion likewise conveyed its best wishes to PCOL AJERO as he moves forward to his next assignment.

The exit call visit underscores the enduring commitment of the AFP and PNP to work together in safeguarding communities and promoting a peaceful and secure environment for the people of Mindanao.

MAKILALA, NORTH COTABATO – The 39th Infantry “Smash’em” Battalion, Philippine Army, commemorated the 77th International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Celebration through a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony held at the Battalion Headquarters in Brgy. Poblacion, Makilala, North Cotabato, highlighting the Philippine Army’s continuing commitment to uphold humanity, dignity, and respect for human rights during armed conflict.

The activity featured the playing of the IHL Month Celebration Promotional Video, which reinforced the importance of observing the principles and rules of IHL in the conduct of military operations.

A significant part of the ceremony was the Mass Recitation of the AFP Soldier’s Pledge, led by MSg Valjun R Mombay (Inf) PA, Battalion Sergeant Major. The recitation symbolized the personnel’s renewed commitment to uphold the principles of humanity, respect for human rights, and the protection of civilians in all circumstances.

The recently concluded, the Battalion also recognized its August celebrants as well as the participants of the Agila Patrol Platoon Challenge 2026 for their exemplary performance and dedication. Special recognition was given to the 39IB Platoon, among the different Battalions for garnering the Best in Pistol Marksmanship, Best in Patrol Base Operation, Best in Signal Communication, and Best in Reconnaissance, acknowledging their competence, teamwork, and commitment to operational excellence.

During the ceremony, LTC HECTOR A ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 39IB, relayed the message of the Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) and Chief of staff AFP in observance of International Humanitarian Law. He emphasized the importance of integrating IHL principles into the daily conduct of every soldier, particularly in ensuring that military operations remain guided by discipline, professionalism, and respect for human dignity.

LTC ESTOLAS further reminded the troops that adherence to IHL is not merely an obligation but a reflection of the values and professionalism expected of every Filipino soldier. He encouraged all personnel to remain steadfast in protecting civilians, respecting human rights, and carrying out their duties with honor and compassion.

The commemoration reaffirmed the 39IB’s commitment to the Philippine Army’s mandate of protecting the people while ensuring that military operations are conducted in accordance with the principles of humanity, distinction, proportionality, and military necessity.

Through activities such as this, the 39IB continues to strengthen its personnel’s awareness and appreciation of IHL, reinforcing its dedication to maintaining professionalism and upholding human dignity in the pursuit of peace and security.

MAKILALA, North Cotabato – The 39th Infantry "Smash'em" Battalion, led by LTC HECTOR A ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, actively participated in the Serbisyong Totoo Caravan under the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC), spearheaded by Hon. Emmylou "Lala" Taliño-Mendoza, Governor of North Cotabato, held at Brgy. Covered Court, Brgy. Kanibong, Tulunan, North Cotabato.

The activity brought together various national government agencies, local government offices, civil society organizations, and private sector partners in a unified effort to deliver essential government programs and services directly to the community. Among the participating agencies and organizations were the DILG, PNP, DTI, PSA, DENR, NCIP, DAR, DSWD, PhilHealth, DepEd, SSS, DOLE, BFP, LTO, NHA, DOST, PCIC, PCA, cooperatives, Metro AVC, IBP-Cotabato North Chapter, COTELCO, FPOP, and UNISOFT.

An estimated 1,270 residents benefited from the caravan through a wide range of free services, including medical and dental consultations, vitamins supplementation for senior citizens, free ultrasound services and complementary food packs for pregnant women, operation tuli, legal assistance, land tenure services under agrarian reform programs, birth record registration and verification, requests for authenticated civil registry documents, TESDA scholarship profiling, and other government services.

As part of its Civil-Military Operations initiatives, the 39th Infantry Battalion also provided free haircut services, demonstrating its continued commitment to serving communities beyond its security mandate and strengthening its partnership with the people.
During the activity, Hon. Lee Roy V. Villasoy, Municipal Mayor of Tulunan; Hon. Rheezan Obrique, Vice Mayor; PD Inecita Kionisala, Provincial Director of the DILG Provincial Office; Hon. Rodrigo Ramgaban, Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR); Mary Grace Santarin, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO); Florentino Villasor, Municipal ELCAC Focal Person; and Hon. Jerry Dillera Jr., Punong Barangay of Barangay Kanibong, delivered their messages of support, emphasizing the importance of unity, strengthened collaboration among stakeholders, and the continued implementation of the Whole-of-Nation Approach in sustaining peace, security, and development in the municipality.

LTC ESTOLAS emphasized that the Battalion remains steadfast in supporting Whole-of-Nation initiatives that promote inclusive development and bring government services closer to geographically isolated and underserved communities.

"The Serbisyong Totoo Caravan reflects the government's commitment to genuine public service. Through strong collaboration among government agencies, local leaders, and stakeholders, we continue to build resilient, peaceful, and progressive communities. The 39th Infantry Battalion will remain a reliable partner in advancing sustainable peace and development in our area of responsibility," LTC ESTOLAS said.

MAKILALA, North Cotabato – Reinforcing leadership at the frontline and demonstrating unwavering commitment to troop welfare, LTC HECTOR A ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 39th Infantry "Smash'em" Battalion, together with CPT VICTOR MARQUEZ INF PA, Commanding Officer of Delta Company, conducted a series of command visits to Ten (10) patrol bases across the Battalion's Area of Responsibility (AOR).

The visit aimed to assess the overall condition of patrol base facilities, evaluate operational readiness, and check on the morale and welfare of soldiers deployed in various forward positions. It also provided an opportunity for the Battalion leadership to personally engage with the troops, address their concerns, and recognize their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace, security, and stability within their respective areas of operation.

As part of the initiative to further improve troop welfare, Flat Screen TVs were distributed to the patrol bases to enhance the quality of life of personnel. The equipment provides soldiers with access to news, information, and recreational programs during their off-duty hours, contributing to their morale, resilience, and overall well-being while performing their duties.

During the visit, LTC ESTOLAS commended the troops for their professionalism, discipline, and unwavering commitment in carrying out their mission despite the challenges of operating in remote and demanding environments. He reaffirmed the Battalion's commitment to ensuring that every deployed soldier receives the necessary operational support, resources, and welfare assistance needed to accomplish the mission effectively.

"Our troops assigned to the patrol bases play a vital role in sustaining peace and security in our communities. As leaders, it is our responsibility to ensure they are well-supported, properly equipped, and continuously motivated. MAKILALA, North Cotabato – Three Hundred Sixty (360) members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (CAA) successfully completed the CAA-I Refresher Training, culminating in a Closing Ceremony held at the 10th Division Training School (DTS) Annex, 10th Infantry “Agila” Division, Philippine Army, Brgy. Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur.

The ceremony was graced by LTC HECTOR A ESTOLAS INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 39th Infantry "Smash'em" Battalion, who served as the Guest Speaker. In his message, LTC ESTOLAS congratulated the graduates for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment throughout the training. He emphasized that continuous training is vital in enhancing the knowledge, discipline, and operational readiness of CAFGU personnel, enabling them to effectively support the Armed Forces of the Philippines in maintaining peace, security, and development within their respective communities.

In line with the continued emphasis of MGEN ALVIN V LUZON PA, Commander of the 10th Infantry (AGILA) Division, on maintaining peak operational readiness across all organic units and CAA personnel through purposive and capability-enhancing training,
LTC ESTOLAS encouraged the graduates to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights. He reminded them that their role extends beyond security operations, as they also serve as community partners in fostering peace, strengthening cooperation, and promoting nation-building.

The successful completion of the refresher training reflects the Armed Forces of the Philippines' unwavering commitment to developing a competent, disciplined, and mission-ready CAFGU force capable of responding to evolving security challenges while remaining steadfast in protecting the people and supporting sustainable peace and development.
