*GSIS signs first G-HEALTH partnership with Maxicare, eyes zero-interest HMO financing for government workers*

In support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.โ€™s directive to strengthen healthcare benefits for government employees, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has signed its first Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Maxicare Healthcare Corporation under G-HEALTH, a financing program that will make HMO or health and hospitalization insurance coverage more affordable through a zero-interest loan payable over 12 months.

The initiative aims to help government employees maximize the Medical Allowance granted under Executive Orders Nos. 64 and 95 by providing an easier way to enroll in health insurance without the burden of paying the premium in one lump sum.

Under the proposed program, members may browse, compare, and enroll in health insurance packages offered by accredited Health Insurance Providers (HIPs) through the GSIS Touch mobile application. Once a member selects a preferred plan, GSIS will finance the insurance premium through a 0% interest loan, allowing the cost to be spread over 12 monthly installments.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said the ceremonial signing with Maxicare marks the beginning of G-HEALTH, with several more MOA signings with other Health Insurance Providers already in the offing to give members a wider selection of health plans that suit their healthcare needs and budget.

โ€œQuality healthcare should be within every government employeeโ€™s reach. Through G-HEALTH, we are making health insurance more affordable by allowing members to pay for their HMO coverage over time without interest, while maximizing the value of their Medical Allowance,โ€ Veloso said.

Initially, the program will be open to regular GSIS members, who may also enroll their qualified dependents under their chosen health insurance package.

GSIS clarified that it will serve as the program administrator and financing intermediary, while participating Health Insurance Providers will remain responsible for delivering medical services, processing claims, and administering membersโ€™ benefits.

Around 214,000 GSIS members are expected to benefit from the programโ€™s initial rollout.

G-HEALTH joins GSISโ€™ growing lineup of Ginhawa programs that deliver the pension fundโ€™s social dividend through practical, member-centered solutions that enhance the financial security and overall well-being of government employees and their families.
