Empowering our elders one cup at a time! The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Malinao, Aklan together with the Local Government Unit of Malinao (LGU Malinao), Aklan State University (ASU), Agricultural Integrated Marketing Rural Improvement Club Women’s Association (AIM RIC), the Malinao Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), Malinao Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Malinao Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), and Comelec Batan, Aklan is honored to support and participate in the skills development training program organized by the Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines (FSCAP) Malinao Chapter today, 27 August 2026 at Aklan AIMCoop, Tambuan, Malinao, Aklan. Bringing together FSCAP members across all 23 barangays of Malinao, Aklan, this hands-on workshop focused on transforming Malinao’s abundant local harvest into value-added products through practical ginger production, processing and salabat (ginger tea) production.

The activity provided our elderly community members with comprehensive, practical training covering proper ginger processing techniques, hygienic preparation, and packaging methods. Special thanks to our partners from Aklan State University, particularly Mr. Jeffrey B. De Mateo from the ASU Food Processing Laboratory A, who served as the expert resource speaker. His detailed instruction ensured that our senior citizens gained the exact knowledge needed to turn raw agricultural yields into high quality and safe products.

This fruitful initiative does more than teach a new skill, it creates a dignified pathway toward financial independence, active community involvement, and health empowerment for our lolos and lolas. By producing affordable, natural, and immune boosting salabat, our seniors are not only generating extra household income but also promoting wellness across Malinao, Aklan. COMELEC Malinao, Aklan remains proud to stand alongside LGU Malinao, FSCAP Malinao Chapter, ASU, AIM RIC, MSWDO, MAO, and OSCA in supporting programs that uplift, value, and empower our senior citizens.

It was an honor for the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Malinao, Aklan to be part of MESA LOKAL’s meaningful 1st Anniversary Outreach at Osman Elementary School.

Together with the Philippine National Police – PNP Malinao Municipal Police Station, Malinao Municipal Advisory Group, Department of Education, and Osman Barangay Council, we witnessed a celebration that went beyond marking a milestone.

We extend our highest commendation to MESA LOKAL for choosing to celebrate one year of success by sharing blessings, bringing joy to the students and teachers, and giving back to our local community. The generosity extended through school kits, food packs, books, classroom supplies, paint and other essential items is a beautiful reflection of what can be achieved when people come together with a genuine desire to serve.

While our primary mandate at COMELEC Malinao, Aklan is to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, our broader duty is to the holistic progress of our community. We firmly believe that strong democratic values begin with active civic participation, youth empowerment, and sustainable local development. Collaborative efforts with visionary local organizations like MESA LOKAL strengthen the foundation of a more cohesive and resilient municipality.

And perhaps the most meaningful part of the day was seeing the genuine smiles and excitement of the children. Their happiness was a reminder that sometimes, the greatest impact comes from simply showing up, sharing what we can, and making others feel valued.

𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐎: The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Malinao, Aklan together with the Philippine National Police - PNP Malinao Municipal Police Station conducted ocular inspection on 24 August 2026 of Osman Elementary School, Osman, Malinao, Aklan, the designated Voting Center for residents of Barangay Osman.

In preparation for the forthcoming November 2, 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections, we are actively conducting ocular inspections of designated voting centers. This crucial pre-election activity focuses on evaluating the readiness of polling places and ensure that they are conducive for electoral purposes. By assessing physical space, and overall security, the Commission aims to guarantee a safe, and comfortable voting experience for both the electorate and the poll workers.

We likewise express our profound gratitude to the teachers who assisted us during the inspection.

Ngayong Agosto 22, 2026, ipinagdiriwang ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang ika-86 na anibersaryo ng pagkakatatag nito, 86 na taon ng tapat na paglilingkod sa sambayanan at pagtataguyod ng malinis, maayos, at mapagkakatiwalaang halalan.

Sa paglipas ng mga taon, naging mahalagang bahagi ng bawat halalan ang dedikasyon at pagsisikap ng mga lingkod-halalan ng COMELEC sa buong bansa. Sa kanilang tapat na paglilingkod, patuloy na naihahatid ng Komisyon ang serbisyo nito sa bawat botante at komunidad, alinsunod sa mandato nitong pangalagaan ang integridad ng proseso ng halalan.

In a strong demonstration of community unity and environmental stewardship, the Office of the Election Officer - Malinao, Aklan, together with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (Dilg Malinao), Local Government Unit of Malinao (LGU Malinao), Philippine National Police (PNP Malinao Municipal Police Station), 82nd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army (82IB PA), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Mdrrmo Malinao), Department of Education (DepEd), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Guardians, Malinao People’s Council, Sugnod, Malinao, Aklan Barangay Council and resident volunteers of Barangay Sugnod conducted a community-wide clean-up activity on August 19, 2026, bringing together 155 participants in a collective effort to promote environmental cleanliness, proper waste management, and shared responsibility within the community.

Once again, we have witnessed the powerful, collective dedication of Akeanons coming together for the care of our planet. Seeing our community unite fills us with deep optimism and proof that when we act together, local efforts create a lasting, positive impact across Malinao, Aklan.

Our commitment to Earth remains steadfast. We firmly believe that this shared responsibility will continue to grow, flourish, and transform our town for generations to come. Through programs like BarKaDa, we pledge our continued support for immediate, meaningful climate action.

The challenges before us require urgent attention and we must confront the crisis of plastic pollution, advocate for greener and more sustainable election practices, and safeguard the health of every living being that shares our home. Together, we are building a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient future for Malinao, Aklan.
