(Legazpi City, July 24, 2026) The Municipality of Malinao officially opened the Alinao Festival 2026 on July 21, bringing together residents and stakeholders in a weeklong celebration of the townโs culture, traditions, and local identity.
The festival, which runs until July 28, was attended by the Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Office, with Tourism Operations Officer II Mary Ann V. Colle representing the office during the opening program.
Colle underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage and encouraging community participation in sustaining local traditions.
The festival pays tribute to the Alinao tree, which is associated with the mountains of Malinao, while its name is also linked to the Bicol word โmalinaw,โ referring to the municipalityโs clear and abundant spring waters.
A parade of floats featuring the produce of local farmers and fisherfolk highlighted the opening celebration.
The festival gathers local officials, partner agencies, schools, organizations, barangay officials, and community members in promoting Malinaoโs rich cultural heritage.
The annual celebration also serves as a platform to showcase the municipalityโs tourism attractions, local products, and community pride while supporting cultural preservation efforts.
