A meaningful step toward inclusive growth and indigenous empowerment was marked through the successful launching of the Indigenous Women and Girls โ Leadership and Empowerment in Ancestral Domains (I-LEAD) Project among the Tagakaulo and Blaan ICCs/IPs in Datu Danwata, Malita, Davao Occidental.
The activity gathered representatives from the New Zealand Embassy/MFAT, NCIP, UNDP, local government officials, community leaders, and members of the indigenous communitiesโshowcasing a united commitment to protecting cultural heritage while promoting sustainable and people-centered development.
The event was highlighted by a traditional welcome ritual and inspiring messages of solidarity and support from distinguished guests, including Hon. Lorna Bautista-Bandigan; NCIP Chairperson Secretary Nancy A. Catamco; NCIP Region XI Director Atty. Geroncio Aguio; UNDP Resident Representative Christophe Bahuet; and Senior Policy Officer Anita Edgecombe of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, alongside FABC President Bianca Ricci Bautista-Navarra, NCIP Provincial Officer Atty. Leonor Oralde-Quintayo, local officials, IPMRs, tribal chieftains, and members of the IP community. Their messages emphasized the importance of empowering indigenous peoples, strengthening partnerships, and advancing inclusive opportunities for future generations.
The program concluded with a community tour, allowing stakeholders to witness firsthand the resilience, culture, and aspirations of the Tagakaulo and Blaan communities. Together, this initiative strengthens collaboration, uplifts indigenous voices, and paves the way for a more inclusive and sustainable future for all.
