The 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐘𝐃𝐎) successfully conducted Kalinaw 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝟑: 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞, bringing together young leaders in a dynamic and meaningful engagement centered on leadership, camaraderie, and peacebuilding.

𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐰 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝟑 served as the practical application of the knowledge, values, and leadership skills gained by the participants during Kalinaw Camp 1 and 2. Through healthy and peaceful competition, the youth delegates were able to showcase teamwork, discipline, creativity, and unity while strengthening their commitment to community development and peace advocacy.

As part of the camp activities, participants took part in various team-building and skills-enhancing competitions designed to foster cooperation, sportsmanship, and active participation among the youth. The activities included:

• 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
• 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The camp also became a platform for empowering young individuals to further develop their leadership potential while promoting cultural appreciation, friendship, and solidarity among participants from different communities.

Highlighting the culmination of the activity was the Night of Awards, where partner agencies, offices, and individuals who contributed to the success of the Kalinaw Camps were formally recognized for their invaluable support and unwavering commitment to youth development and peacebuilding initiatives.

The successful conduct of Kalinaw Camp 3 reaffirmed the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞’𝐬 dedication to nurturing empowered, responsible, and peace-oriented youth leaders in the community.

The 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐊𝐘𝐎), in partnership with the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐘𝐃𝐎) and 𝐉𝐂𝐈 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐆𝐮𝐥𝐟, conducted an outreach activity at the kindergarten school in Barangay Kinangan on May 7, 2026.

The initiative aimed to provide educational support and school repair assistance to the community’s young learners. Despite the challenging terrain leading to the area, the group successfully reached the mountain barangay to deliver much-needed materials and supplies for the school and its pupils.

Through the support of the 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐲. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐏. 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚, and 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚, cement and plywood were donated for the repair and improvement of the kindergarten school facility.

In addition, kindergarten pupils received school bags containing school supplies, tumblers, and food containers distributed by 𝐊𝐘𝐎, 𝐏𝐘𝐃𝐎, and 𝐉𝐂𝐈 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐆𝐮𝐥𝐟. Nutritious meals prepared by the 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 were also served to the children during the activity.

The outreach activity forms part of the continuing efforts of the organizations and the 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐨 𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 to support education, community development, and youth-centered initiatives in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.

The Municipality of Jose Abad Santos proudly welcomed the team of Born to Be Wild on April 26–27, 2026, as they explored the municipality’s rich marine biodiversity, thriving eco-tourism destinations, and the remarkable sanctuary of over 12,000 flying foxes (𝘗𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘷𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘺𝘳𝘶𝘴 and 𝘗𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘶𝘴 𝘩𝘺𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘴) and sighting of Sea Cow (𝘋𝘶𝘨𝘰𝘯 𝘥𝘶𝘨𝘰𝘯) "Dugong" in Brgy. Bukid, Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental.

Hosted by wildlife expert Dr. Nielsen Donato, the visit showcased the ecological significance of the area—highlighting how Jose Abad Santos continues to champion eco-tourism through responsible travel, biodiversity conservation, and community involvement.

Municipal Mayor Jason John A. Joyce and MENR Officer Rodrigo B. Muda Jr. shared the LGU’s strong commitment to environmental protection, presenting best practices in safeguarding the wildlife sanctuary and promoting sustainable eco-tourism initiatives.

With the support of the SPAMAST Research Team headed by Prof. Leizl Mancao, Prof. Leonel Lumogdang, and Mr. Orlando Ang, it was identified that the area is home to nine (9) mangrove species, two (2) species of flying foxes and dugong—further reinforced by Municipal Ordinance No. 2025-032, Series of 2025, establishing it as a local biodiversity and ecological protection zone.

This milestone highlights Jose Abad Santos as a rising destination for eco-tourism and a model for sustainable development.
