In line with the vision of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to promote accessible, responsive, and worker-centered labor dispute resolution, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI Davao Occidental Field Office (DOcFO) continues to uphold industrial peace through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA).
​
The requesting party, a resident of Malita, Davao Occidental, sought DOLE’s assistance regarding an alleged nonpayment of wages by the responding party. The requesting party had worked as a kasambahay beginning October 19, 2020.
​
On July 24, 2026, the responding party demonstrated good faith by paying the full settlement amount of ₱24,000, thereby satisfying all monetary claims arising from the requesting party’s employment. Following the complete payment of the agreed amount, the case was formally declared settled and closed.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI Davao Occidental Field Office (DOcFO), through its DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) - Workers' Organization Development Program (WODP) Plus, awarded a livelihood grant worth Php500,000.00 to the Fish Cage Operators and Feeders Association (FOFA) of Brgy. Mamacao, Sta. Maria, Davao Occidental to strengthen its Milkfish (Bangus) Production Project.

In line with the vision of Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to advance inclusive, sustainable, and employment-generating livelihood opportunities for Filipino workers, DOLE continues to strengthen community-based enterprises that empower workers' organizations and improve local economies.
​
The livelihood assistance is expected to directly benefit more than 40 association members by providing quality milkfish fingerlings and commercial fish feeds needed to improve fish cage production.

In line with the vision of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to promote faster access to employment and strengthen workforce development, DOLE XI Davao Occidental Field Office and TESDA XI Davao Occidental held a coordination meeting today, August 4, 2026 at the DOcFO Bldg., Brgy. Felis, Malita, Davao Occidental.

The meeting focused on the implementation of TESDAmayan, preparations for the 2026 World Café of Opportunities Job Fair, and the allocation of skills training slots for qualified SPES graduates.
​
Through this partnership, DOLE and TESDA aim to expand access to employment, skills training, and career development opportunities for jobseekers and young workers in Davao Occidental.

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI successfully implemented the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program in support of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela, deploying 13,622 beneficiaries to assist in preparing 1,365 public schools across the Davao Region for the opening of School Year 2026–2027. The initiative not only contributed to creating a safe and conducive learning environment for students but also provided temporary employment opportunities to disadvantaged and displaced workers through a total allocation of Php71,531,250.00.
​
The initiative was carried out in response to the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, who underscored that supporting education through employment opportunities for vulnerable workers forms part of the administration’s broader strategy to strengthen local partnerships, expand access to decent and productive work, and help ensure quality learning environments for Filipino students.
​
Since its implementation in June, the program has covered 1,365 public schools and 13,622 TUPAD beneficiaries across the region. A total of 610 schools, involving 5,783 beneficiaries, have already completed their TUPAD work activities, with Php30,376,500.00 in wages disbursed. Meanwhile, implementation continues in the remaining 755 schools, benefiting 7,839 workers, with a corresponding budget allocation of Php41,154,750.00.

Throughout the implementation period, beneficiaries carried out school clean-up and sanitation, repair and repainting of facilities, restoration of school fixtures and furniture, and landscaping and beautification activities.

DON MARCELINO, Davao Occidental – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI through its Davao Occidental Field Office (DOcFO), successfully conducted the Technical and Advisory Visit (TAV) Orientation on July 24, 2026 at William Joyce Elementary School in Brgy. Lapuan, Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental. The activity gathered 56 employers/ representatives of micro establishments to strengthen their understanding on labor laws, occupational safety and health standards, and business registration opportunities.
​
In line with the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to strengthen compliance with labor standards through proactive engagement, capacity-building, and partnership with stakeholders, the orientation aimed to empower micro establishments with the knowledge and guidance needed to foster safe, healthy, and compliant workplaces while promoting sustainable business growth.

The 2026 MSME Summit culminates today, July 30, 2026, at the 73rd IB Covered Court in Brgy. Felis, Malita, Davao Occidental. Spearheaded by DTI XI Davao Occidental, the activity celebrates the resilience, innovation, and significant contributions of micro, small, and medium enterprises to employment generation and local economic development in the province.

Anchored on the theme “Navigating the Shift: Building Resilient and Future-Ready MSMEs,” the culmination recognizes the determination of local entrepreneurs who, despite the challenges and disruptions caused by the recent earthquake, continued to rebuild, adapt, and sustain their businesses and the livelihoods of their workers.
​
In line with the vision of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to strengthen MSMEs as vital partners in generating decent and sustainable employment, the Department of Labor and Employment continues to provide responsive programs and services on livelihood assistance, employment facilitation, productivity enhancement, and compliance with labor standards.

The Philippine coconut industry contributed at least a 37% share of the total agricultural exports of the country in the last 15 years, accounting for more than $2 billion in export revenue. Moreover, it provides income and livelihoods for millions of Filipinos.

Copra, a major product derived from coconuts, is seeing increased demand in global markets as it yields various high-value oils. However, as the market changes, reports on child labor in the industry persist. The U.S. Department of Labor reported in 2024 that several children were involved in different activities throughout the coconut farming and production process.
​
One of them was Zy John Nebris, a profiled child laborer from Linamon, Lanao del Norte. The fifth among eight siblings, Zy John used to be a coconut loader who worked tirelessly from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to provide food for his family. (with reports from DOLE - Lanao Del Norte)

Tolentino, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI launched its pioneering Regional Labor Market Information (LMI) Platform this July, making labor market information and publications for the Davao Region more accessible to the public.

In one of his recent meetings with the heads of DOLE regional offices, Secretary Tolentino emphasized the importance of innovation in public service, urging regional offices to “actively contribute innovations and good practices that respond to local labor market realities while remaining within the bounds of existing laws and mandates.”
​
Echoing this vision, DOLE XI Regional Director Atty. Dax B. Villaruel underscored that innovation is not merely about adopting new technologies, but about making government services more responsive to the needs of the people, a commitment reflected in the newly launched DOLE XI Regional (LMI) Platform.
​
“The Regional LMI Platform is more than just a collection of labor market reports. It is a tool that empowers people to make informed decisions. Whether they are looking for a job, choosing a career, hiring workers, planning investments, or developing policies. By bringing reliable labor market information together in one accessible online portal, we are helping every stakeholder make better decisions while supporting employment growth and workforce development across the Davao Region,” RD Villaruel said.

The LMI Platform serves as a digital repository designed to provide timely, reliable, and data-driven labor market information for job seekers, employers, students, researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders. It was developed in response to the feedback, suggestions, and experiences shared by stakeholders and DOLE XI personnel, addressing the need for a one-stop, easily accessible source of labor market and employment information.
