IN PHOTOS | The 73rd Infantry (Neutralizer) Battalion, under the 10th Infantry Division, actively participated in a coastal clean-up drive and information dissemination campaign in support of the Month of the Ocean 2026 celebration themed, β€œStrong Marine Protected Areas for Our Blue Planet,” held at Barangay Mana on May 7, 2026.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) in partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and Philippine Army. The initiative highlighted the importance of environmental protection while strengthening public awareness on significant maritime concerns, particularly the West Philippine Sea.

During the clean-up, which focused on removing debris and preserving coastal ecosystems, military personnel and volunteers engaged with the community by distributing informative leaflets. These materials highlighted the ecological significance of the West Philippine Sea and emphasized the imperative for its protection and sustainable management, aligning with national interests and marine biodiversity conservation.

The 73rd Infantry (Neutralizer) Battalion remains steadfast in supporting initiatives that promote environmental protection, community engagement, and national awareness in pursuit of sustainable development and regional security.

MUST READ | The U.S. Embassy in Manila alerts U.S. citizens of recent intensified operations by the Armed Forces of the Philippines against the New People’s Army (NPA).

U.S. citizens have been present during recent military actions against the NPA. An April 19, 2026, armed clash resulted in the deaths of two Americans. We advise Americans in the Philippines and around the world to abide by local laws and to avoid situations with elevated security risk.

The NPA is designated a foreign terrorist organization by the governments of the United States and the Philippines. Anyone in proximity of NPA elements is at grave risk of arrest, injury, or death. Foreign terrorist organizations actively recruit Americans to participate directly in terrorist activities and/or provide financial support.

Areas of Heightened Concern include rural, mountainous regions of Leyte, Mindoro, Negros, and Samar, all of which have seen recent fatal clashes between NPA and Philippine forces.
