SINO ANG RELATE SA LOAN? ✋😅
LENI'S HOUSE NOW HAS SOLAR AFTER GSIS LOAN

Former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo shared that she had solar panels installed at her home after availing of a Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) loan, which she is paying through salary deductions.

In an interview with the Naga City Press Corps on Monday, August 17, Robredo shared her experience after having solar panels installed at her house in Monterey a few months ago.

"The highest electricity bill I've paid since installing solar was P300. Before that, I was paying around P5,000 to P7,000. Now, I'm only paying P300."

Robredo said she financed the installation through a GSIS loan, adding that the SSS also has a similar program.

She said solar power offers major benefits because it can reduce electricity expenses while promoting the use of renewable energy.

"Installing solar has a lot of benefits—not only does it help the environment, but it also provides huge savings."

Robredo acknowledged that installing solar panels requires an initial investment but said government financing programs can make the cost more manageable through installment payments and salary deductions.

"It's true that there's an initial investment, but if you can take out a loan, you can pay for it little by little. In my case, it's through salary deduction, so the payments are manageable."

Meanwhile, the Naga City government is also shifting toward renewable energy through the Naga City Rooftop Solar PV Project, a public-private partnership that provides donated solar equipment and free installation for city facilities.

Solar panels are being installed at the Naga City People's Hall and will soon be installed at the Raul S. Roco Library.

The project was made possible through a donation from Nagueño Joseph Nocos of Emerging Power Inc., with Ecological Energy Technologies serving as the contractor. The initiative comes at no cost to the city government.

Robredo said the shift to renewable energy is part of the city's broader effort to reduce the financial impact of rising electricity and fuel costs.

She expects the solar installations to generate substantial savings in the city's operating expenses.

"Once that is finished, we will achieve really significant savings."

The city is also requiring future public infrastructure projects to incorporate provisions for solar panels in their designs.

These include the Naga City Hospital Dormitory, Center for Safety and Resiliency (CESAR), Metro Naga Sports Complex, Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum, and improvements to the Naga City Civic Center.

The initiative is supported by resolutions and ordinances passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod as Naga seeks to institutionalize energy efficiency and expand the use of renewable energy across city government facilities.
