The SPES Mamplasan volunteers recently joined forces at Mamplasan Elementary School to support two meaningful initiatives. First, they conducted interactive reading sessions aimed at enhancing the students' reading comprehension skills, fostering a love for learning and literacy. Second, they participated in a comprehensive cleanup of the school's garden area, preparing the space for future tree planting activities.
These efforts not only contribute to the students' academic growth but also promote environmental awareness and community involvement. By revitalizing the school garden, the volunteers are laying the groundwork for sustainable practices that will benefit both the school and the wider community.
Such initiatives align with broader educational and environmental programs like the Department of Education's "Gulayan sa Paaralan," which encourages schools to cultivate gardens for food security and ecological education. Additionally, tree planting activities are integral to fostering biodiversity and combating climate change, as emphasized in various environmental programs across the country.
We commend the SPES Mamplasan volunteers for their dedication to nurturing both the minds of young learners and the environment they inhabit. Their actions exemplify the spirit of community service and the impact of collective efforts in creating a better future.
