Prioritizing youth wellness, one community at a time! πŸ§ πŸ’š

The National Center for Mental Health – Public Health Office (NCMH-PHU) officially brought the Mental Health Caravan to Domingo Yu Chu National High School for an empowering day dedicated to breaking stigmas and building emotional resilience. During the interactive session, NCMH facilitators demystified key mental health concepts, addressed the unique challenges and changes that come with growing up as an adolescent, and equipped students with practical stress relief strategies and coping mechanisms to prevent burnout. The team also shared valuable approaches for creating a safe, supportive environment both at school and at home so no student ever feels isolated.

A massive thank you to the DYCNHS family for your incredible energy and open heartsβ€”keep looking out for yourselves and each other, because help and hope are always within reach!

Taking big steps toward healthier minds and stronger hearts! πŸ§ πŸ’š

The National Center for Mental Health – Public Health Unit (NCMH-PHU) brought its Mental Health Caravan to Oriental Mindoro National High School, creating a safe space for students to learn, share, and grow. Together with the OMNHS community, the NCMH team dove deep into understanding mental health as a core part of overall well-being, exploring the physical and emotional changes during adolescence, and sharing practical stress management and coping techniques to help students navigate academic and personal pressures. Most importantly, the session highlighted how peers, teachers, and families can build a supportive environment where empathy and active listening thrive.

Thank you to the students, faculty, and staff of OMNHS for your warm welcome and enthusiastic participationβ€”remember, your mental health matters and you are never alone!

As we observe World Environmental Health Day, we are reminded that health does not exist in isolation. The environment in which we live, work, and receive care plays an important role in protecting our health, safety, and overall well-being.

For a healthcare institution like the NCMH, environmental health goes beyond maintaining cleanliness. It encompasses safe and accessible facilities, proper sanitation and waste management, responsible use of resources, sustainable practices, and an environment that promotes safety, dignity, comfort, and healing.

As government healthcare professionals, we have a responsibility to ensure that the facilities and services we provide are not only functional and compliant with standards, but also responsive to the actual needs of the people we serve. Every well-planned space, safe pathway, accessible facility, and properly maintained landscape contributes to a better and safer experience for our service-users, healthcare workers, and the entire NCMH community.

However, environmental health is not the responsibility of one office or one profession alone. It is a shared responsibility. Each of us has a role to play, from practicing proper waste management and conserving resources, to maintaining cleanliness, protecting our green spaces, and making responsible decisions in our daily work.

More importantly, when we create healthier environments, we create healthier communities. Let us continue to translate our commitment to environmental health into meaningful and sustainable action.

Because in healthcare, the environment is not merely where care happensβ€”it is part of the care we provide.

Sana 'wag mong kalimutan ang sarili mo.

Being there for others should not mean losing yourself in the process.

Other people’s mental health is not yours alone to carry. You can be present, but you are not responsible for fixing everything they are going through.

So breathe. Rest when you need to. Make space for yourself.

You can be someone’s safe place without becoming their entire world.

On World Patient Safety Day, the National Center for Mental Health champions this year's theme of "Safe Care for Non-Communicabe Diseases" under the slogan "Safe Care for Life! "

Recognizing Mental Health conditions as significant and vital Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs), NCMH is committed to prevent avoidable harm across long term patient care.

By empowering patients as partners, supporting health care workers and integrating a culture of Safety, we ensure continuous, coordinated, and compassionate care for all.
