Here’s a look at our recent Training on Effective Project Management for Access to Justice under the European Union in the Philippines -GOJUST Programme! We brought together representatives from 26 implementing partners from 18 projects across the Philippines—including CSOs and partner Law Schools—for hands-on sessions on all matters concerning Project Management.

Equipped with fresh insights, practical action plans, and a strong network of peers, our grantees are ready to turn strategies into meaningful justice outcomes for vulnerable communities.

The European Union in the Philippines-GOJUST Programme is proud to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) in revisiting and refining its Vision, Mission, and Core Values (VMV). This strategic session held on 14 August 2026 at the Diamond Hotel Manila brought together DOJ leadership to align the Department’s core principles with its mandate as the country’s principal law agency.

By anchoring their direction as they prepare for the DOJ 2027–2033 Development Plan, this effort paves the way for a more unified, responsive, and accessible justice system for all Filipinos.

The European Union in the Philippines through the EU-GOJUST Programme is proud to support the Supreme Court PH in launching the Expanded Pilot Implementation of the High-Performance Courts (HPC) Initiative! 🏛️

We are proud to welcome PROCESS Foundation Panay, Inc. as a first-time European Union in the Philippines -GOJUST Programme partner for their initiative to Strengthen Women Paralegals in the Ati Community!

Through this initiative, PROCESS Panay aims to eliminate reporting barriers for Indigenous women and girls by embedding trained Ati women justice focal persons into local protection councils, producing culturally sensitive oral rights guides, and utilizing pathways rooted in Sugidanon—the community's traditional oral storytelling and chanting tradition—to ensure justice mechanisms remain deeply culturally grounded and accessible.

Looking back on this journey, we are deeply grateful for the incredible work of our EU-GOJUST II grantee, Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute Inc. (NYLI).

Together with KAISAHAN, NYLI set out to bring justice closer to farming communities—a path that led to nearly 3,000 agrarian reform beneficiaries supported, 107 community paralegals trained, and countless lives touched. Seeing young storytellers amplify these voices reminds us of why building inclusive pathways to land security matters so deeply.

Systemic legal battles take time. Through long-term strategic litigation—setting high-court precedents, defending frontline activists, and challenging flawed policies—LRC continues to sustain the evolving struggles of Indigenous Peoples.

Under Project MAJESTIC, they are further empowering local environmental defenders in ancestral domains, securing legal protection for vulnerable communities, and anchoring climate legislation firmly around ancestral domain rights.

Designing a child-friendly, integrated justice facility requires more than just infrastructure—it takes shared knowledge and a unified vision.

During a recent writeshop supported by EU-GOJUST, the Cagayan de Oro Justice Zone (CDO JZ) and IACAT came together to map out a coordinated, victim-centered framework for the upcoming Children's Advocacy Processing Center. By adapting proven models, this future facility will streamline protection, legal, and healing services for young survivors under one roof.

We thank IACAT for sharing their journey and guiding this crucial local initiative. Together, we are removing barriers to justice for the most vulnerable.

Through Project ECOSEAD, ECOWEB is championing local humanitarian leadership by empowering Indigenous women, advancing gender equality within traditional governance structures, and advocating for national policy changes that give Indigenous women a formal, legally backed voice in tribal governance.

The Department of Justice (DOJ), in partnership with the European Union-funded Governance in Justice (EU-GOJUST) Programme, officially launched its Strategic Planning Activity through a high-level meeting with Secretary of Justice Fredderick A. Vida, bringing together key officials to define the Department’s long-term strategic direction, policy priorities, and institutional aspirations.

The activity marked the beginning of a Department-wide strategic planning process aimed at transforming the DOJ into a more resilient, responsive, innovative, and future-ready institution, one that delivers accessible, efficient, and people-centered justice services and strengthens public trust and confidence in the justice system.

In his message, the Secretary of Justice emphasized that the initiative should not merely produce a planning document, but should serve as a catalyst for meaningful institutional transformation capable of responding to evolving legal, governance, and societal challenges.

Among the key priorities identified were the review of the mandates and strategic framework of DOJ offices and its attached and constituent agencies; strengthening institutional and human resource development through capacity-building, digital transformation, and innovation; and expanding access to justice through the nationwide establishment of Katarungan Offices.

Supported by EU-GOJUST and coordinated by the Planning and Management Service (PMS), the strategic planning process will adopt a participatory and evidence-based approach, engaging DOJ offices and its attached and constituent agencies in shaping a shared vision for the Department, one that reinforces the DOJ’s role as a trusted institution committed to upholding the rule of law and delivering justice that is accessible, effective, and responsive to the needs of every Filipino.
