VISIT OF DR. JOCELYN B. GERRA TO THE LOCAL OFFICE ON MUSLIM AFFAIRS

Dr. Jocelyn B. Gerra, faculty member of the College of Medicine at Cebu Doctors’ University, visited the Local Office on Muslim Affairs to conduct a research-related consultation concerning the health and well-being of the Muslim community.

The purpose of the visit was to gather relevant information and data regarding the Muslim population, particularly their access to healthcare services and health programs. The research aims to understand how members of the Muslim community access available healthcare programs and services, as well as to identify the challenges and barriers they encounter in seeking and receiving healthcare.

Among the concerns being explored are the accessibility and availability of healthcare services, awareness of health programs, cultural and religious considerations, financial difficulties, transportation and geographical concerns, and other factors that may prevent or discourage members of the Muslim community from obtaining appropriate healthcare.

Dr. Gerra requested relevant Muslim community data and information from the Local Office on Muslim Affairs to support the conduct of the study. The research is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the healthcare needs of the Muslim community and may help identify possible measures to improve their access to appropriate, inclusive, and culturally sensitive healthcare services.
