As a precautionary measure following the reported volcanic ashfall from the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano, face-to-face classes in all levels, both public and private schools in Mandaue City, are hereby suspended until further notice.

All public schools shall temporarily shift to Distance Learning Modalities, while private schools are encouraged to adopt the same or make appropriate academic arrangements.

The City Government continues to closely monitor the situation in coordination with the concerned national agencies to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all Mandauehanons.

While the heaviest ashfall is concentrated closer to the source, changing wind patterns and lingering airborne dust mean we should all practice safety first.

Here is what you and your family can do to stay protected from ash fall:

😷 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐬 & 𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐬: Wear an N95 mask or a damp cloth over your nose and mouth if you need to step outside. Avoid wearing contact lenses as ash particles can scratch your eyes—wear eyeglasses instead.

🏠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞: Keep doors and windows tightly closed to prevent volcanic ash from entering your homes.

🚗 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Ash reduces visibility. If you are riding a motorcycle or driving, slow down and keep a safe distance.

🐾 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤: Bring your pets inside or ensure their shelter is well-covered. Make sure their food and drinking water are safe from ash contamination.

🧼𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐲: When clearing ash from your vehicles or porches, lightly mist it with water first to prevent the dust from billowing into the air, and never wash it straight into the drains to prevent clogging.
