The Culture of Reading Program, in partnership with World Vision, is a flagship initiative of the Mandaue City Public Library that nurtures literacy, numeracy, and child protection awareness among young learners.

This effort is firmly aligned with Mayor Thadeo Jovito M. Ouano's People’s Agenda on Education, ensuring that every child in Mandaue has access to meaningful learning opportunities.

We sincerely thank to the City Mayor Jonkie Ouano and Congresswoman Emmarie "Lolypop" Ouano-Dizon for their steadfast support, whose leadership and commitment continue to inspire the advancement of education and community empowerment, as a testament to this vision, the City Government of Mandaue also provided Educational Giveaways to program completers, encouraging them to continue their journey of learning.

With the presence of Barangay Captain Jesus Neri Sr., Barangay Councilor Lydia Espina, and partner guest MCC Administrator Dr. Joey Rivamonte and Representatives from World Vision, the culminating activity became a celebration of collaboration and shared responsibility. Their participation underscored the importance of uniting local government, barangay leadership, and civic partners in building a strong foundation for literacy and lifelong learning.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Barangay Guizo for their generous support in hosting the event, and to the MCC Volunteers whose dedication and compassion in teaching the children brought the program’s mission to life.

𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗞𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗘 | 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 𝟭𝟬

The suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels, both public and private schools in Mandaue City, is hereby extended until Friday, July 10, following further assessment by our City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), due to the possible effects of volcanic ashfall from Kanlaon Volcano.

All public schools shall temporarily shift to Distance Learning Modalities, while private schools are encouraged to adopt the same or implement appropriate academic arrangements.

Bisan og dili na kaayo makita ang ashfall sa ubang lugar, mahimo gihapon kini nga mahimong risgo sa panglawas, ilabi na sa atong mga kabataan. This additional day will also give our schools enough time to complete cleanup efforts and ensure that classrooms are safe before welcoming our students back.

We encourage everyone nga mogawas sa ilang panimalay to wear a face mask and take the necessary precautions, especially children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and those with respiratory conditions.

City Hall offices shall remain open to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of public services.

As a precautionary measure following the reported volcanic ashfall from the recent eruption of Kanlaon Volcano, face-to-face classes in all levels, both public and private schools in Mandaue City, are hereby suspended until further notice.

All public schools shall temporarily shift to Distance Learning Modalities, while private schools are encouraged to adopt the same or make appropriate academic arrangements.

The City Government continues to closely monitor the situation in coordination with the concerned national agencies to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all Mandauehanons.
