The National Archives of the Philippines is a unique agency that functions both as an administrative agency and as a cultural institution. It is charged with the establishment of policies, standards, and guidelines in relation to the administration of public records. This involves record creation, utilization, maintenance, retention, preservation, conservation, and disposal. These activities promo

te accountability, transparency, and business continuity as well as the rule of law. As the nation’s repository of archival and historical documents, the NAP fulfills another mandate: to pursue, conserve, and promote Filipino cultural heritage by preserving the documentation of government transactions through the years.

The National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) joins the celebration of the 𝟭𝟮𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 of the Supreme Court this June, which also marks the 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵.

Declared under the 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟮𝟲𝟱, 𝘀.𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the observance calls on government agencies, local government units, the private sector, and civil society to support and partake in the commemoration.

Established on 𝟭𝟭 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟬𝟭 through the Act No. 136 of the Philippine Commission, the Supreme Court has stood as a pillar of justice – first led by Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano.

In line with this milestone year, the Court unveils a series of activities under the theme: “𝘚𝘊: 125 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯”.

In observance of Philippine Independence Day on June 12, 2026, and pursuant to NAP Memorandum Order No. 03-26-21 dated March 9, 2026, particularly Section IX: Guidelines on the Alternative Work Arrangement, the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP) informs the public of the following 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟴-𝟭𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲:

‎I would like to express my appreciation to the National Archives of the Philippines and to all of its facilitators for conducting the Basic Records and Archival Management training. The seminar provided valuable knowledge and practical insights regarding proper records handling, filing systems, records disposition, preservation, and the importance of maintaining organized and accessible documents in government offices. The discussions were very informative, clear, and enjoyable at the same time. More importantly, the discussions were very relevant to my actual responsibilities as a records officer. The Basic Records and Archives Management (BRAM) Seminar-Workshop enlightened me on the proper procedures and importance of records management in the Philippines, including its laws, operations, and functions in different offices and departments. As a Records Officer and administrative staff, I learned that proper record keeping, filing, mail management, and disposal of records are essential responsibilities that contribute to efficient office operations, accountability, and legal compliance.

The seminar also emphasized the importance of maintaining organized filing systems, conducting file audits, proper indexing and classification, and preserving valuable government records. In addition, I learned that records disposal must follow the legal procedures under RA 9470 and requires authorization from the National Archives of the Philippines. Overall, the seminar strengthened my knowledge and understanding of effective records and archives management in government offices.

With my deep eagerness to learn Records Management, our management has always extended its full support through various trainings. Yet despite the many opportunities, I continuously hoped to attend a training directly facilitated by the National Archives of the Philippines. I believed there was something from NAP that could never be fully obtained elsewhere — the depth, the authority, and the genuine understanding of Records Management.

Now, I am blessed to become one of the participants of the BRAM Seminar-Workshop. I can truly say that every discussion was meaningful and unforgettable. From the very first day until the last, every lecture felt enlightening. The circulars may already be accessible online, but hearing them discussed directly by NAP gave them life, clarity, and deeper meaning. I finally understood not only NAP’s mandate, but also my agency’s role and my personal responsibility in Records Management.

What struck me the most was realizing that Records Management is not merely about filing documents. It is a serious responsibility that requires effective systems, proper guidance, and continuous learning. The discussions on communications handling, filing management, archiving, records disposition, and especially the FSACS filing system opened my mind to many improvements we can implement in our office. Even as a first-time BRAM participant, the seminar inspired me to rethink and pre-plan better systems that I am now excited to share with my office.

Indeed, managing records is never easy. It requires patience, knowledge, and commitment. That is why I am deeply grateful to the National Archives of the Philippines for sharing not only knowledge, but also inspiration and guidance to all of us in the field of Records Management.

On behalf of everyone, thank you so much. Tunay ngang ang “Maayos na talaan ay serbisyo sa bayan.” Mabuhay tayong lahat!
