The Embassy is aware of the magnitude 5.4 earthquake that struck the waters off Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro today.

Please remain alert for potential aftershocks and follow the advice of local authorities. Irish citizens in affected areas should monitor updates from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and take appropriate precautions.

Call for proposals!

Small Island Developing States - In-Country Micro Projects Scheme (ICMPS) 2026
Funding opportunity for NGOs and CSOs in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Republic of Palau (RoP), and the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).

The Embassy of Ireland to the Philippines, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau is calling for applications to the In-Country Microprojects Scheme (ICMPS) 2026.

ICMPS offers grants of up to €10,000 ($11,300) to organisations in the in FSM, RoP, and RMI, who work on issues related to women’s rights, climate change, biodiversity, conflict resolution and human rights.

The deadline for applications is Friday 7th of August 2026.

Ambassador Emma Hickey attended the Civil Society Summit for the Bangsamoro: Strengthening Constituencies for the Peace Process, which brought together peace actors and civil society partners to strengthen alignment and support for the BARMM peace process.

Discussions highlighted the importance of inclusive economic development, education, investment, and meaningful participation of all communities in building a peaceful and sustainable future for Bangsamoro.

As BARMM moves toward an important stage in its democratic transition, Ireland remains a committed friend of the Philippine peace process, drawing from its own experience in Northern Ireland and the enduring value of dialogue, partnership, and shared commitment to peace.
