The DOST-NCR, in partnership with the DepEd Pasay City and the Philippine Science High School - Main Campus, successfully concluded the second day of the Training-Workshop on Specialized Laboratory Equipment: Operation, Optimization, and Maintenance for High School Science Teachers on 22 August 2026.

Building on the success of the first training session, participating educators engaged in hands-on laboratory workshops on Chemistry and Physics education. Through guided experiments, participants investigated the properties of acids and bases using a natural pH indicator derived from red cabbage anthocyanins, allowing them to observe color changes and relate these to the pH scale. Teachers also conducted physics experiments on Descriptors of Motion, Free-Fall Motion, and Newton's Second Law, utilizing specialized laboratory equipment to collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data. These activities strengthened participants' competencies in laboratory investigation, scientific measurement, data analysis, and the effective integration of inquiry-based learning in science instruction.

As a continuation of the workshop, participants also attended a Post-Training Online Session on 29 August 2026, which focused on research methodologies, human-centered innovation, laboratory safety, equipment management, chemical management, and proper waste disposal practices. This culminating session reinforced the competencies developed during the hands-on training and provided educators with additional tools to promote safe, research-based, and inquiry-driven science instruction in their respective schools.

DOST-NCR extends its heartfelt gratitude to all partner institutions, resource speakers and participating teachers for making this capacity-building initiative a success.

Together, we continue to transform learning through science, technology, and innovation.
