President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and His Excellency Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, deliver their keynote messages during the Viet Nam–Philippines Business Forum at the Diamond Hotel in the City of Manila on June 1, 2026.

Bringing together about 600 business leaders and representatives, the Forum serves as a venue for discussions on trade, investment, innovation and economic cooperation — further strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between the two countries.

Viet Nam has become a significant partner of the Philippines in trade and investment. In 2025, it ranked as the country’s 11th largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching US$7.17 billion.

President Tô Lâm is on a two-day State Visit to the Philippines, the first Party leader from Viet Nam to visit the country. His visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and a decade of the two countries’ Strategic Partnership.

During the welcome ceremony, the two nations’ anthems are played and a 21-gun salute is rendered in honor of the Vietnamese General Secretary and President. Afterward, the members of the two delegations are introduced to both Heads of State. President Marcos Jr. then invites the visiting leader to Malacañan Palace, where President Tô Lâm signs the guestbook.

According to Ambassador Mylene Garcia-Albano of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, addressing the Diet is a privilege reserved for a select few. The President’s opportunity to speak before the Diet reflects the Japanese government’s recognition of the gains achieved under President Marcos Jr.’s leadership in recent years. It also acknowledges the Chief Executive’s contributions to further strengthening and improving Philippines-Japan relations.

In his message, PBBM reflects on the story of Prophet Ibrahim and emphasizes the values of unwavering faith, humility, obedience, and devotion to Allah’s will. As soon as they arrive in Tokyo, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos spend time with the Filipino community in Japan at a gathering on May 26, 2026.

According to the Embassy of the Philippines in Tokyo, the Filipino community in Japan remains one of the most deeply rooted foreign communities in the country and is the fourth-largest contingent, with around 349,714 registered Filipinos residing across various regions as of June 2025.

Continuing the Administration’s drive to bring meaningful public service closer to every Filipino, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the ‘Bawat Bayan Makikinabang: Obando, Bulacan’ program at Obando Central School on May 21, 2026.

During the event, the President meets with 55 Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars, beneficiaries of the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF), and witnesses the distribution of rice to beneficiaries of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

A highlight of the program is the ceremonial turnover of Php2.2 million in SCPF financial assistance to the barangays of Obando, Bulacan, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to supporting Filipino families and communities.
