The Revised Philippine Coast Guard Law has secured another significant milestone following its approval by the Committee on Ways and Means headed by Chairperson Congressman Miro Quimbo of the House of Representatives on September 2, 2026.

The approval brings the proposed law closer to completing the House legislative process, with the Committee on Appropriations as the next and final committee hurdle.

Another blessing for the PCG as the measure continues to advance toward a stronger legal foundation for the Service.

One Committee Closer. One Step Closer to a Stronger PCG.⁩

The Coast Guard Legislative Liaison Affairs (CGLLA) joins the Philippine Coast Guard and the nation in observing MANA Mo 2026, anchored on the theme: “Karapatan sa Karagatan, Sama‑sama Nating Alagaan.”

This observance reminds us that our seas are more than bodies of water surrounding our islands—they are an integral part of our national identity, heritage, livelihood, security, and future.

As the Philippine Coast Guard continues to uphold its mandate in safeguarding our maritime domain, CGLLA highlights the essential role of legislation and sound maritime policies in protecting our seas, advancing national interests, and strengthening maritime governance.

Through strengthened collaboration among government agencies, maritime stakeholders, communities, and the Filipino people, let us deepen our understanding of our maritime rights and responsibilities, promote the protection of our marine environment, and work together toward a safe, clean, secure, and sustainable maritime nation.

August 11, 2026 — Pasado na sa Third and Final Reading sa Senado ang Senate Bill No. 2116 o “Revised Philippine Coast Guard Law” na pangunahing inakda at inisponsoran ni Committee on Public Services Chairperson Sen. Raffy Tulfo.

Ikinatuwa ni Senate Committee on Public Services Chairperson Sen.

The Commandant, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, attended the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the House of Representatives in Batasan Hills, Quezon City on July 27, 2026.

The annual SONA serves as a vital constitutional platform where the President presents the nation's accomplishments, outlines the administration's legislative priorities, and sets the overall direction of governance.

The PCG's participation reflects its unwavering commitment to supporting the government's national agenda and strengthening collaboration with the legislative branch in advancing initiatives that enhance maritime safety, maritime security, marine environmental protection, and public service.

In his address, President Marcos Jr. paid tribute to the country's maritime frontliners, stating:
"We give honor to our Armed Forces, the Coast Guard, and even our fisherfolk, who all continue to patrol and ply our seas in the face of great risks.

The President's recognition underscores the Philippine Coast Guard's steadfast dedication to safeguarding the nation's maritime domain, upholding the country's sovereignty and sovereign rights, and ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of the Filipino people. The PCG remains resolute in fulfilling its mandate as a reliable maritime force committed to excellence, integrity, and service to the nation.
