Manila, Philippines โ The historic first-ever national commemoration of International Youth Day in the Philippines was successfully held today in front of the Rizal Monument at Luneta, bringing together youth leaders and organizations from across the country.
The celebration was spearheaded by the Kabataan sa Kartilya ng Katipunan, FPJ Youth, and the National Youth Commission (NYC), with the participation of key youth leaders including Councilor Yanyan Ibay, SK Federation President of the City of Manila, and Director John Daniel Layno, head of the Manila Youth Development and Welfare Bureau (YDWB). They were joined by representatives from the Manila Youth Sector of the City Government of Manila, showing strong support for the empowerment and active involvement of young people in nation-building.
Also in attendance were Congressman Brian Poe Llamanzares of FPJ Panday Bayanihan, USec. Jeff Ortega of the NYC, and Executive Director Cecille Lorenzana-Romero of the National Parks Development Committee, alongside numerous SK officials and youth organization representatives nationwide.
The commemoration served as a unifying event where the Filipino youth honored International Youth Day through a program that reflected the values of resilience, discipline, and readiness to serve. The gathering showcased that the youth are not merely witnesses to history, but active authors of the nationโs next chapters.
As emphasized during the program, history is not only read โ it is written. This inaugural national commemoration has proven that the Filipino youth will continue to rise, stand firm, and write the pages of hope for the countryโs future.
