Panoorin: Nakapanayam ng Radyo Publiko - Bangon Bayan Mahal si Usec. Jose Torres, Jr. , Executive Director ng PTFOMS, tungkol sa kahalagahan ng darating na kauna-unahang BARMM Parliamentary Elections sa Setyembre 14, 2026.

Ayon kay Usec. Torres, ang PTFOMS, sa kooperasyon ng OPAPRU, ay humigit kumulang na isang taon na naghahanda para sa eleksyon tulad ng pagsasagawa ng serye ng oryentasyon at safety trainings para sa midya. Makaka-asa ang mga mamamahayag na magkakaroon ng Media Monitoring Centers sa Marawi at Cotabato at Quick Reaction Teams kasama ang PNP, COMELEC at iba pang ahensya para siguraduhin ang kaligtasan nila. Torres, “Inaasahan na ang mga kandidato at opisyales sa BARMM ay maintindihan ang kahalagahan ng midya na malayang masaksihan at maiulat ang pangyayari sa makasaysayang kaganapang ito. Para sa mga kasamahan sa midya, nawa’y mapaghandaan ng maayos hindi lamang ang mga kagamitan kundi pati rin ang inyong kalusugan. Alamin ang konteksto at kasaysayan ng lugar; alalahanin na maging patas sa pag-uulat, malawak na pagtingin sa sitwasyon, at laging maging maingat at responsible sa pag-uulat. PTFOMS MEDIA MONITORING CENTER READY FOR ELECTION DAY SECURITY

MAGUINDANAO DEL SUR PPO — Provincial Director PCOL MICHAEL JOHN C MANGAHIS joined the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) Coordination Meeting on August 25, 2026, to finalize the operational framework of the Media Monitoring Center for the BARMM Parliamentary Elections. The Center is set to play a crucial role on Election Day, ensuring the safety of media practitioners and the community against harassment, while monitoring and verifying information flow to counter misinformation and safeguard transparency.

PCOL MANGAHIS emphasized that the MDSPPO’s mission is twofold: protecting the freedom and security of journalists on the ground and ensuring that accurate, responsible information guides the public during the polls. With protocols for verification, inter‑agency coordination, and rapid advisories now in place, the PTFOMS Media Monitoring Center stands as a frontline mechanism to uphold peace, credibility, and integrity throughout the historic electoral process.

Today, as we mark National Press Freedom Day, we celebrate significant strides in ensuring the safety and security of media practitioners nationwide. These achievements are evident in our improved international press freedom rankings and enhanced response protocols against media-related threats and harassment.

Despite progress, we recognize the ongoing challenges facing media practitioners, from traditional violence and legal harassment to emerging digital security threats and misinformation. Defending press freedom requires continuous vigilance and action on all fronts.

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) is deeply committed to protecting journalists and fostering a free media environment. We collaborate continuously with law enforcement, government agencies, and media partners to proactively address threats, ensuring a safe space for the media to thrive.

Key Initiatives:

Media Vanguards Program: Led by the Philippine National Police, this program enhances rapid response mechanisms. We work with the Commission on Human Rights, National Bureau of Investigation, Public Attorney’s Office, and National Police Commission to promote and protect media workers' rights.

Case Review and Re-Investigation: PTFOMS is actively reviewing and updating cases of media killings. We are conducting re-investigations of archived cases to ensure justice and thoroughly address unresolved issues.

Training Workshops: We initiated collaborations with international organizations and stakeholders to conduct safety and security training workshops, equipping journalists with the skills to navigate both physical and digital threats.

Cybercrime Prevention: In partnership with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, we address and mitigate the growing cybercrime threats and harassment faced by media workers.

Today, we also honor the birth anniversary of Marcelo H. Del Pilar, a pivotal figure in Philippine journalism and a champion of press freedom during the Spanish colonial period. His legacy of integrity, bravery, and truth-seeking remains a guiding light.

We urge everyone to recognize and support journalists' critical role in our democracy. Let us recommit to fostering an environment where truth prevails over disinformation and where laws protect rather than restrict press freedom.

Under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s leadership, we reaffirm our unwavering dedication to this mandate. We pledge to sustain all collaborative efforts to protect the rights and welfare of media practitioners.

Strengthening partnership for media safety in the Cordillera

Salute to the men and women of the PNP Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-CAR) for the warm welcome and productive discussions during the PTFOMS courtesy visit and case updates at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet, on August 28, 2026.

Our heartfelt thanks to PCOL Arnold D. Razote, Officer-in-Charge, Chief Regional Staff, and the Regional and Special Staff of PRO-CAR for the warm reception and continued cooperation.

We also thank PBGEN Julio S. Lizardo, Deputy Regional Director for Administration, for leading the discussions with the PRO-CAR Command Group, and PCOL Froiland B. Lopez, Acting Deputy Regional Director for Operations, for the PRO’s commitment to strengthening public safety and addressing media-related concerns in the region.

Ang aming taos-pusong pasasalamat kay Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas sa mainit na pagtanggap sa Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) nitong Biyernes, Agosto 28, 2026.

Naging mahalagang pagkakataon ang aming pagkikita upang mapalalim ang ugnayan at pagtutulungan ng PTFOMS at ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Benguet sa pagsusulong ng kaligtasan at seguridad ng mga mamamahayag.

Ibinahagi ni Gov. Diclas ang kanyang buong suporta sa adhikain ng PTFOMS na mapanatili at mapalakas ang isang malaya, ligtas at responsableng pamamahayag—isang mahalagang haligi ng isang demokratikong lipunan.

Sa pamamagitan ng mas matibay na koordinasyon at pagtutulungan sa pagitan ng national at local government, mas mapoprotektahan natin ang mga mamamahayag na patuloy na nagsisilbi sa publiko sa paghahatid ng tama, napapanahon at makabuluhang impormasyon.
