BREAKING: COMELEC SERVERS HACKED; DOWNLOADED DATA MAY CONTAIN INFORMATION THAT COULD INFLUENCE THE 2022 ELECTIONS

Sensitive voter information may have been exposed after a group of hackers allegedly breached the Commission on Polls (Comelec) systems, stealing more than 60 gigabytes of data that could influence the May 2022 elections, according to a report by the Manila Bulletin.

The said hacking incident was uncovered by the Manila Bulletin (MB) Technews team, which found that the hackers' organization breached Comelec's system on Saturday, January 8, 2022, and downloaded data including usernames and PINS for vote-counting equipment (VCM).

Additionally, network diagrams, IP addresses, a list of all privileged users, domain administrator credentials, a list of all passwords and domain policies, access to the ballot processing dashboard, and QR code grabs of the bureau of canvassers with login and password were also downloaded. | Source: Manila Bulletin
