ILS or Institute for Labor Studies was formally established in July 25, 1987 through Executive Order No. 251 issued by then President Corazon C. Aquino in response to the growing need of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for more comprehensive and innovative research to back up its policy recommendations. Headed by an Executive Director and assisted by a Deputy Executive Director, ILS has been instrumental in the promotion of labor market efficiency, industrial peace and social justice in the last 37 years.

DAVAO CITY โ€” In line with the statement of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis N. Tolentino during the 114th International Labour Conference, which emphasized that AI transitions must be human-centered and must protect the rights, welfare, and dignity of workers while supporting broader national development objectives, the Institute for Labor Studies, represented by Ms. Chelsea Nicole Pineda, Senior Labor and Employment Officer, presented the key findings of the 2024 ILS Working Paper, โ€œImpact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Labor Market,โ€ during the โ€œDICT 2026 Partner Summit: AI-Bayanihan 2026 โ€“ A Research and Partnership Exchangeโ€ on 09 September 2026.
