🌧️ 𝗪𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 | 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮

The Manila City DRRM Department has raised an 𝗢𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 over the City of Manila due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclone Dolphin.

Heavy to intense rainfall is expected and may persist for up to three (3) hours, increasing the risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

We encourage everyone to:
☔ Bring an umbrella or rain gear.
⚠️ Stay vigilant and avoid flooded areas whenever possible.
📱 Monitor official advisories from the Manila City DRRM Department and DOST-PAGASA for the latest weather updates.

Kinikilala ng tema ng Buwan ng Wika 2026 ang magkaugnay na papel ng wikang Filipino at artificial intelligence (AI) para sa makabansang gawain ng pananaliksik. Panawagan ito para sa responsableng paggamit ng AI habang tinitiyak na may makabuluhang espasyo ang Wikang Pambansa sa mga usaping may kinalaman sa mga umuusbong na teknolohiya at kaugnay na usaping pang-etika rito.

Itinuturing ang AI bilang kasangkapan para maiangat pa lalo ang kalidad ng saliksik na inihahandog ng mga Pilipino, unang-una, para sa mga kapuwa Pilipino. Habang kinakasangkapan ang AI, patuloy pa ring tinatahak ng wikang Filipino ang landas ng intelektuwalisasyon na magbubunga ng panloob at panlabas na pagbabago sa bansa. Sa ganitong paraan, kapuwa ang AI at wikang Filipino ay nagiging tulay na gagamitin ng mga Pilipino para sa kanilang pinapangarap na magandang búkas.

On 22 July 2026, the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) and the Office of the Building Official (OBO) met with ACMobility to discuss the strategic rollout of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in public facilities across the City of Manila.

The meeting focused on ensuring that proposed charging stations comply with the highest safety, structural, and building standards—laying the groundwork for public spaces that are ready to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles.

This collaborative initiative marks another important step toward promoting cleaner mobility, smarter urban infrastructure, and a more sustainable future for every Manileño.

NEWS ALERT: Manila bags international award for innovative use of geospatial technology in disaster management

The City of Manila has received the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award by Esri, the global leader in Geographic Information Systems, at the Esri User Conference in San Diego, California on Wednesday afternoon, July 16 local time—Thursday morning in Manila.

Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso led the Manila delegation to receive the award. The City of Manila is the only Philippine awardee among the 197 organizations chosen from more than 100,000 Esri clients worldwide.

Manila joined a distinguished group of international awardees that included the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, Switzerland's Humanitarian Aid unit, Habitat for Humanity International, Wajima City of Japan, and the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development in Kenya.

The SAG Award is presented to governments and organizations worldwide that demonstrate exceptional innovation and excellence in using GIS technology to improve public service, decision-making, and operational efficiency, with winning organizations set apart by their ability to create measurable benefits for citizens and stakeholders.

Through the use of GIS, Manila significantly improved its disaster preparedness and response capabilities, implementing projects that use digital mapping, spatial analysis, and real-time data monitoring to strengthen the city's management of floods, fires, and other emergencies across the city's six districts.

Domagoso also attended the invitation-only Executive Session at the Esri User Conference 2026, where GIS leaders from around the world shared knowledge, best practices, and resources curated from the ArcGIS community.

Joining Domagoso in San Diego were Manila City Assessment Department Officer-in-Charge Atty. Ma. Cristina Fernandez, Manila GIS Team Leader Ramon Jefferson Verano, and Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department research and planning chief Christian John Evangelista.
