The Coast Guard Officersโ€™ Course Class 22-17 โ€œGAT - MASALIGANโ€ is a gallant uniquely structured CGOC Class of the Philippine Coast Guard Academy (formerly known as the Coast Guard Officersโ€™ School). Convened on November 30, 2017, at Bagac, Bataan, the class was composed of three companies from different forms of professions and backgrounds. Honed and united together to embody the finest values and traditions of the Philippine Coast Guard.

The class seal represents a rich symbolic context, reflecting the values, principles, and mission of the class and their commitment to service.

๐‘ฑ๐‘ผ๐‘น๐‘ฐ๐‘บ, ๐‘ญ๐‘ฐ๐‘ซ๐‘ฌ๐‘บ, ๐‘ฏ๐‘ถ๐‘ต๐‘ถ๐‘น๐‘ฐ๐‘บ - the center top banner of the class seal is latin word for โ€œjustice, loyalty and honorโ€ reflecting the class virtues of respect and adherence to legal principles, loyalty to the motherland and integrity in pursuit of truth and justice.

๐‘บ๐‘ฏ๐‘ฐ๐‘ฌ๐‘ณ๐‘ซ ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐‘จ๐‘ต๐‘ช๐‘ฏ๐‘ถ๐‘น - The shining shield and anchor is the central element of the seal. It portrays a symbol of protection, strength, and preparedness. The anchor represents the long profound maritime foundation of the Coast Guard, signifying steadiness and a guiding role of sea duties in facing challenges and adversities in the service.

๐‘บ๐‘ผ๐‘ต ๐’‚๐’๐’… ๐‘บ๐‘ป๐‘จ๐‘น๐‘บ - The presence of the sun and stars in the seal is from the national ensign, symbolizes a deep sense of patriotism and national pride. The three stars - Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao indicate a nationwide commitment of the class to perform our mandated functions at any point in the country.

๐‘ณ๐‘จ๐‘ผ๐‘น๐‘ฌ๐‘ณ ๐‘พ๐‘น๐‘ฌ๐‘จ๐‘ป๐‘ฏ - the embodiment of laurel is an epitome of victory and achievement. Each bract is a reminder of the rigorous experience, teamwork, and unwavering support the class endured. Thus, symbolizes collective testimony of pride and distinction.

๐‘บ๐‘ช๐‘จ๐‘ณ๐‘ฌ๐‘บ ๐‘ถ๐‘ญ ๐‘ฑ๐‘ผ๐‘บ๐‘ป๐‘ฐ๐‘ช๐‘ฌ - the scale on the left and right side symbolizes equality and fairness among comrades. The class must act with impartiality with guided virtues towards our respective duties and responsibilities.

The word โ€œGATโ€ symbolizes an honorific title for noble Filipino heroes who sacrifice their lives for the freedom and liberation of our countrymen. This is commemorated every November 30 - the class convening anniversary. Likewise, โ€œMASALIGANโ€ suggests a local colloquial term for โ€œtrustworthyโ€.
