Inst. Cathlyne Joy P. Alvarez-Abarejo, M.A., L.P.T., served as one of the facilitators in the breakout workshops during the 10th FIT: Frontiers and Innovations in Teaching Conference 2026 organized by Xavier School.

We congratulate our student and alumni, Mr. Sean Ethan M. Capisanan, Mr. Ivan Ephraim A. Gozum, M.A., and Ms. Mariefe B. Cruz, on receiving the St. Albertus Magnus Award.

Mr. Capisanan is currently a sophomore student in the undergraduate program. Mr. Gozum is an alumnus of the undergraduate program, while Ms. Cruz is both an alumna of the undergraduate program and a graduating student of the M.A. program.

The St. Albertus Magnus Award is presented by the University to students, student groups, or faculty for outstanding research.

We congratulate our alumni, Dr. Christian Bryan S. Bustamante and Dr. Moses Aaron Angeles, on their new appointments.

Dr. Christian Bryan S. Bustamante has been appointed Vice President for Academics at San Beda University. He earned his M.A. in 2006 and Ph.D. in 2010 from UST.

Dr. Moses Aaron T. Angeles has been appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at San Beda University, effective June 1, 2026. He earned his A.B. in 2002, M.A. in 2005, and Ph.D. in 2010 from UST.

“A market-centered curriculum, moreover, fails to recognize two important aspects of liberal education—call them outcomes if you must: “aesthetic education” and “democratic education.” … As 𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘮 𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮 we firmly stand by the view that ethics does have an indispensable role in fostering and cultivating a well-rounded civic and moral consciousness among the country’s youth. It is a 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘲𝘶𝘢 𝘯𝘰𝘯 of citizenship education. On this score alone, the teaching of ethics must be protected at all costs.”
