In response, PGAD personnel conducted a home visit and initial assessment on May 4, 2026, to verify the familyβs condition and determine appropriate interventions and support services. The assessment identified that the household is currently experiencing multiple vulnerabilities, including socio-economic hardship, displacement from their original residence due to severe weather disturbances, unstable livelihood, and health-related concerns involving vulnerable members of the family, including persons with disabilities.
The Provincial Government recognizes that the welfare, safety, and dignity of vulnerable individuals remain a priority, particularly the protection and immediate needs of children, women, and men affected by displacement and poverty. Ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the family are adequately supported and protected remains at the center of the governmentβs humanitarian and social welfare response.
The incident underscores the continuing challenges faced by displaced and vulnerable households with limited access to stable income sources and essential services.
In response to the immediate needs identified, the Provincial Gender and Development Office extended initial humanitarian assistance in the form of food packs and rice provisions to support the familyβs short-term sustenance. Continuous monitoring and follow-up assessments are being undertaken to evaluate their condition and identify appropriate long-term interventions, including possible livelihood and social protection support.
The Office also acknowledges the familyβs initiative to engage in small-scale livelihood activities as part of their coping mechanisms and will continue to explore appropriate support in coordination with relevant government agencies, partner institutions, and stakeholders.
PGAD reiterates its commitment to gender-responsive governance, social protection, and the promotion of dignity, privacy, and confidentiality in the delivery of services to vulnerable individuals and families, while ensuring timely and appropriate humanitarian response.
This initiative reflects the continuing commitment of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur to inclusive governance, responsive public service, and the protection and welfare of vulnerable sectors, especially children, women, and families in crisis, in line with its social welfare and community development programs.
