Nakibahagi ang Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur – Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (PLGU-OPAg) sa Training on Free-Range Chicken Production para sa Rural-Based Organizations (RBOs) na isinagawa noong Agosto 17–19, 2026 sa Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII), Tantangan, South Cotabato. Layunin ng training na mapalawak ang kaalaman at praktikal na kakayahan ng mga miyembro ng 4-H Club, Rural Improvement Club (RIC), at Volunteer Leaders of the Association of the Philippines (VLAP) sa tamang pag-aalaga at pamamahala ng free-range chickens.

Tinalakay sa training ang breeds, housing, feeding, incubation, record keeping, at farm economics, pati ang mga praktikal na pamamaraan na maaaring gamitin sa aktwal na produksyon. Sa pamamagitan ng mga hands-on activities at farm visit, nagkaroon ang mga kalahok ng mas malinaw na pananaw kung paano maaaring gawing karagdagang kabuhayan at food security initiative ang free-range chicken production sa kanilang mga komunidad.

Nagsagawa ng field visit ang mga OJT students ng Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur – Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (PLGU-OPAg) sa Ikram Agriculture Cooperative, noong Agosto 20, 2026. Mainit silang tinanggap at binigyan ng oryentasyon ni Ms. Sittie Aireen C. Lomalongcolob hinggil sa mga gawain ng kooperatiba.

Bilang bahagi ng pagbisita, aktwal na naranasan ng mga estudyante ang paggawa ng mushroom fruiting bags sa paggabay ni Mr. Omar M. Mangompia, na nagbahagi ng tamang proseso ng bagging at kahalagahan nito sa mushroom production. Layunin ng gawaing ito na madagdagan ang kanilang kaalaman at praktikal na kasanayan sa larangan ng agrikultura.

Alam mo ba? Ang abaca—isang mahalagang agricultural fiber ng Pilipinas—ay pinag-aaralan na rin para sa paggamit sa advanced materials and technology. 🔬📡

Researchers from De La Salle University and partner institutions developed an engineered abaca-based composite using abaca fiber, polyaniline (PAni), and Carbon Black VXC 72 for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. The best-performing composite achieved an average 74.34% attenuation of incident electromagnetic waves, with an average shielding effectiveness of 5.96 dB, across the tested frequency range of approximately 500 MHz to 4.5 GHz.

The study found that the composite primarily attenuated electromagnetic waves through absorption rather than reflection, demonstrating the potential of natural fiber-based materials for applications such as telecommunications, healthcare, aerospace, smart textiles, and electronic devices.

From a Philippine agricultural fiber to an engineered material for emerging technologies, abaca continues to show its potential for innovation and value addition.

📌 Important: The reported 74.34% attenuation applies to the engineered PAni–carbon black–abaca composite, not to ordinary untreated abaca fiber.

Hear how the training helped shape their perspective on modern agriculture, digital technology, and the importance of sharing knowledge to support our farmers and community.

📌𝘿𝙖𝙮 2 𝘿𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝘿𝙞𝙫𝙚: 𝘿𝙁𝙋 102 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝, 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧!

The learning continued on Day 2 of the Training of Trainers, this time with DFP 102 with Lanao Central College students! Led by DFP Specialists Nailah B. Manaol and Sittie Sharinamae C. Amanoding, this module took trainees deeper into advanced agri-apps, digital marketing, and e-commerce transactions.

Among the tools introduced were SPIDTECH, Plant Doctor, and Binhi ng Palay, the latter serving as a comprehensive digital catalog of released rice varieties in the Philippines. To put their learning into practice, trainees were tasked with recommending a suitable rice variety to a farmer using the Binhi ng Palay app, simulating a real-life scenario they may encounter in the field.

The day also featured a Social Media Marketing Plan activity, where trainees created their own product or business concept and strategized how to attract customers through social media platforms.

Capping off the day, FITS Information Service Specialist Norlaynie P. Sharief introduced FITS Center to the trainees, a hub dedicated to bridging farmers and fisherfolk with the latest agricultural technologies, information, and services, while also serving as a training ground for future agricultural extension workers like themselves.

After two days of hands-on learning and skill-building, trainees proudly received their Certificate of Completion, a well-deserved recognition of their dedication and hard work! 🎓
