PHP2.04 Million Worth of Suspected Shabu Seized in Maguing, Lanao del Sur
A joint police operation led by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, PRO BAR (RDEU PRO BAR), together with the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Special Operations Group, Provincial Intelligence Unit, Maguing Municipal Police Station, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, and 1403rd Regional Mobile Force Company of RMFB 14-A, resulted in the seizure of approximately 300 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of PHP2,040,000.00 during a buy-bust operation on August 19, 2026, in Barangay Bato-Bato, Maguing, Lanao del Sur.
During the operation, a suspect identified as alias “Laky” and his unidentified male companion allegedly sold three sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu to a police poseur-buyer.
Following the successful consummation of the transaction and as the police team moved to effect the arrest, the suspect allegedly resisted and fired at the operating police officers, prompting the team to return fire in response to the immediate threat.
Alias “Laky” sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately brought to Tamparan District Hospital for medical treatment but was later pronounced dead by the attending physician. His unidentified companion managed to escape and remains at large.
Recovered during the operation were approximately 300 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP2,040,000.00, buy-bust money, one Springfield Armory .45 caliber pistol, Serial No. M7884, with magazine and ammunition, one mobile phone, one driver’s license, one brown sling bag, and four fired cartridge cases believed to be caliber .45.
All recovered items will be submitted to the Regional Forensic Unit BAR for examination and proper disposition, while the SOCO Team processed the encounter site.
