๐Ÿ“ŒPLGU Lanao del Sur Equips Government Workforce with Artificial Intelligence Skills

The Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, through the Information, Communication, and Technology Office (ICTO), led by Mahid Macadato, conducted the Artificial Intelligence for Government Workforce training for PLGU employees on December 17, 2025, at the Social Hall, Capitol Complex. The activity forms part of the provinceโ€™s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital transformation and enhance the efficiency of public service delivery through the responsible use of emerging technologies.

The program opened with a welcome message from ICTO Head Mahid Macadato, who highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern governance. He emphasized that AI is a powerful tool that can support government employees in improving productivity, decision-making, and service delivery when applied ethically and with accountability.

The training featured a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence delivered by Mohammad Ali B. Ibrahim, Master Trainor from AI Ready ASEAN, who served as the resource speaker. He explained that artificial intelligence has been evolving for decades and now plays a vital role in turning everyday government tasks into smarter and faster solutions.

Participants were guided through the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its key subsets, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, predictive AI, and large language models. The discussion clarified how machines can learn from data, recognize patterns, generate content such as text and images, predict outcomes based on data trends, and understand and produce human-like language. These concepts were contextualized to show their practical relevance to government operations.

A major highlight of the activity was the Hour of Code hands-on session, where participants were introduced to basic coding and trained on how to build and interact with simple AI models. The session demonstrated that AI and coding are beginner-friendly and accessible, reinforcing the idea that technology can be learned and used by everyone regardless of technical background.

The training also included practical exercises on creating role-specific AI prompts and use cases tailored to different LGU functions. This allowed participants to explore how AI tools can assist in tasks such as drafting documents, organizing information, analyzing data, and improving internal communication. Discussions on the ethical use of AI further emphasized the importance of data privacy, fairness, risk management, and accountability in government applications of artificial intelligence.

The activity concluded with an awarding and closing ceremony, recognizing the active participation of PLGU employees. Through this initiative, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur reaffirms its commitment to building a digitally capable and future-ready government workforce, leveraging innovation to promote efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery for its constituents.
