𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: “HERoes of Women and Children. The artwork portrays the collective struggle against violence and the powerful role of unity in creating a VAW-free Philippines. At the center of the poster is a woman whose eyes are being covered by dark hands, symbolizing the silencing, control, and suffering that victims of violence often endure. This central figure represents all women who face oppression, fear, and invisibility within society. Surrounding her are vibrant, brightly lit figures forming the word “UNITE.” Each letter is represented by a different individual—youth, men, women, and community members—showing that ending VAW is not the responsibility of women alone. Instead, it requires a whole-of-nation effort where every citizen takes part. These characters rise above the darkness, symbolizing empowerment, awareness, and collective action. At the top of the artwork, peace symbols, raised fists, and the image of a dove with a ribbon represent advocacy, solidarity, and hope. These elements highlight the campaign’s call for gender equality, respect, and the protection of human rights. The contrast between the dark shadows at the bottom and the bright colors above emphasizes a powerful message: when individuals and communities unite, they can lift survivors out of silence and fear, breaking the cycle of violence. The imagery shows that through cooperation— across age groups, genders, and sectors—we can build a future where women live free from harm. Overall, the poster captures the essence of “UNiTEd for a VAW-Free Philippines” by illustrating how unity, awareness, and compassion can overcome violence and create lasting change.”
