Dimasalang- A consultative meeting with Dimasalang fisherfolk was called by Gov. Antonio Kho and attended by the representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on September 5, 2016. This is for them to have a refresher regarding the "Fisheries Regulation". In connection with this, Dimasalang Fisherfolks were properly oriented about the Rules and Guidelines set by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) such as required standards of fishing gears and so forth. Fisherfolks were also given awareness on the amended Fisheries Code of the Philippines ( RA 8550). The law now has more teeth and the necessary mechanisms to curb illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing as mandated by the European Union (EU) which plays a key role in the fisheries market.
