The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Milagros, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. Natividad Isabel Revil-Magbalon, M.D., through the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) headed by Carmen B. Cortes, EnP., successfully conducted the "Palit Basura, Balyo Gamit sa Eskwela" program.

The activity was facilitated by EMS II Grant V. Espinosa, MPA, Joey Panillos, Administrative Assistant IV, and Niรฑo S. Fernandez, under the supervision of MENR Officer Carmen B. Cortes, EnP. Students were encouraged to bring recyclable plastic waste, such as plastic sachets and plastic bottles, in exchange for school supplies.

A total of 70 students actively participated in the activity, demonstrating their support for environmental protection and proper waste management. This initiative reflects the LGU of Milagros' continued commitment to supporting schools while promoting environmental awareness, waste reduction, recycling, and responsible solid waste management among learners and the school community.

The Local Government Unit of Milagros extends its sincere appreciation to Liceo de San Jose for warmly accommodating the activity. Special thanks are likewise extended to School Director Rev. Fr. Lorenzo V. Bautista, as well as the entire teaching and non-teaching staff of Liceo de San Jose, for their invaluable assistance, cooperation, and unwavering support in making the program a success.

Rain or shine, the Local Government Unit of Milagros remains steadfast in delivering meaningful public service. Driven by its commitment to environmental protection and quality education, the LGU continues to bring programs directly to communities, inspiring young learners to become responsible stewards of the environment.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Milagros, under the leadership of Municipal Mayor Hon. All 27 barangays of the Municipality of Milagros actively participated in the Barangay Planning and Budgeting Workshop, conducted in three batches on July 23โ€“24, July 28โ€“29, and July 30โ€“31, 2026 at Circle E Lodge and Restaurant, Barangay Tugbo, Mobo, Masbate.

Barangays are at the heart of local governance. They are where development plans become real programs, projects, and services that address the needs and aspirations of communities. Through this workshop, barangay officials were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare responsive, inclusive, participatory, and results-oriented plans and budgetsโ€”ensuring that every peso is thoughtfully programmed toward meaningful community development.

๐Ÿ’ป Going digital for better barangay governance!
This year, barangays utilized the Barangay Budget Preparation and Management System (BPreMS), a digital tool designed to make the preparation, encoding, management, and reporting of barangay budgets and financial transactions simpler, faster, and more organized aligned with government policies, standards, and requirements.

The workshop was attended by the Punong Barangays, Barangay Kagawads serving as Chairpersons of the Committee on Appropriations, Barangay Secretaries, Barangay Treasurers, and SK Chairpersons and was facilitated through the collaborative efforts of the Municipal Local Government Operations Office (DILG), Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Budget Office, and Local Youth Development Office, with the able support of Hon. Mayor Natividad Isabel Revil-Magbalon.

When barangays are empowered, communities become stronger.
