CDRRMC 3rd Quarter Meeting
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council successfully conducted its 3rd Quarter meeting today at the 3rd Floor, Masbate Building, City Hall.
The meeting was presided over by the CDRRMC Chairperson and City Mayor, Atty. Olga T. Kho, and was convened to discuss and deliberate on significant matters concerning disaster risk reduction and management, preparedness, response, and other urgent concerns requiring the Councilβs attention and appropriate action.
As part of the meeting, Ms. Rizza Bartolata of DOST-PAGASA presented the latest weather forecast, along with an update on the prevailing El NiΓ±o phenomenon and its potential implications for the country, particularly for Masbate City. The presentation provided the Council with important information to guide preparedness measures, risk assessment, and appropriate actions in anticipation of possible weather- and climate-related impacts.
Meanwhile, Mr. Isaias F. Bigol Jr. presented the highlights and accomplishments of the CDRRMO for the previous quarter, showcasing the various initiatives and activities undertaken to strengthen the Cityβs disaster preparedness, response capabilities, and overall resilience.
Other key matters discussed during the meeting included the programming, inclusions, and allocation of the DRRM Fund for disaster preparedness initiatives; the proposed ex*****on of Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) for stockpiling of essential resources and the establishment of a K9 Unit; preparations for the upcoming Cityhood Anniversary activities; and the scheduled Incident Command System (ICS) and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training for CDRRMC members to further enhance coordination, command, control, and decision-making during emergencies and disasters.
The CDRRMC remains committed to strengthening its partnerships and continuously improving the Cityβs disaster risk reduction and management systems toward a safer, more prepared, and disaster-resilient Masbate City.
