The Provincial Government of Masbate, under the leadership of Governor Hon. Atty. Ricardo T. Kho, through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) led by Josephine Paje, OIC-PDAO, successfully conducted a series of impactful activities during the week-long celebration of the 48th National Disability Rights Week from July 17–23, 2026.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CELEBRATION
🏃‍♂️ Advocacy Fun Run for Persons with Disabilities

A vibrant celebration of mobility, health, and unity! The Advocacy Fun Run brought together PWDs, advocates, and community members to promote active lifestyles, dismantle social stigmas, and champion barrier-free public spaces across the province.

🤟 Basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Training Across All Capitol Departments

In line with Republic Act No. 11106 (Filipino Sign Language Act), personnel from all Capitol offices underwent hands-on FSL training. This initiative directly equips frontliners and civil servants with basic communication skills to provide accessible, dignified, and barrier-free government services to the Deaf community.

EMPOWERING MASBATEÑOS OF ALL ABILITIES
This week-long milestone moves beyond simple celebration—it represents a concrete shift toward rights-based empowerment, equal participation, and institutional accessibility.

Our goal is simple: break down communication barriers and guarantee equal, respectful, and seamless government service for every Deaf and hard-of-hearing Masbateño.

As part of the 48th National Disability Rights Week celebration, the Provincial Government of Masbate, through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), successfully launched a Basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Training for personnel across all Capitol departments.

By equipping our public servants with basic FSL skills, we are taking a massive step toward inclusive governance. This initiative aims to break down communication barriers, ensuring that the Deaf and hard-of-hearing Masbateños receive equal access, respect, and seamless assistance when availing of government services.
