Behind every successful event are young people who are always ready to lend a hand.

A heartfelt thank you to the 20 young volunteers from the Kabataan of Matag-ob who generously shared their time and energy during Habhaban sa Dalan! From arranging the tables, balhin sa tents, assisting with the setup, pagbugaw sa mga langaw, to warmly ushering guests to their tables. Every little task made a big difference.

Your willingness to serve, even in the simplest ways, shows the true spirit of volunteerism, bayanihan, and youth participation.

SK FEDERATION–MATAG-OB AT THE PHALGA VISAYAS GEOGRAPHICAL CONFERENCE 2026

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Matag-ob proudly participated in the Visayas Geographical Conference organized by the Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PHALGA), held on September 17–19, 2026 at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City.

Representing the Municipality of Matag-ob were dedicated youth leaders from the SKs of Bulak, Riverside, Mansalip, and Cambadbad, coming together to engage in meaningful discussions, learning opportunities, and exchanges of experiences with fellow local youth leaders and public servants from across the Visayas.

This conference served as an avenue to gain new knowledge, strengthen leadership capacities, share best practices, and deepen our commitment to meaningful youth participation in local governance.

From Matag-ob to Iloilo, our youth leaders continue to learn, connect, and grow—bringing home valuable insights that can help build a more responsive, inclusive, and empowered youth community.

ONE DAY SPORTS LEAGUE | LINGGO NG KABATAAN 2026 🏀🏐

In celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, last August 30, the SK Federation – Matag-ob Chapter successfully conducted the One-Day Sports League, bringing together young athletes from different barangays in a spirit of friendship, unity, and healthy competition. Guided by the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” the activity served as a reminder that despite our diverse backgrounds, we share one common goal—to empower and inspire the youth through meaningful engagement.

This successful event was spearheaded by the SK Federation – Matag-ob Chapter, under the leadership of SK Chairman Jaime Vincent Maraasin of Brgy. Naulayan and SK Chairman Rey Jhon Alogbate of Brgy. San Vicente, together with the support of fellow SK officials, volunteers, coaches, and stakeholders who worked hand in hand to make the activity possible.

More than just games and competitions, the One-Day Sports League became a venue for promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie among the youth of Matag-ob.

To all participating athletes, organizers, and supporters daghang salamat sa inyong active participation and unwavering support! Together, let us continue to build a stronger, more united, and empowered youth community.

✨ LINGGO NG KABATAAN 2026 | FELLOWSHIP NIGHT ✨
Last August 29, 2026 Our Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 Fellowship Night was celebrated where young people from different barangays, organizations, and backgrounds came together, connected, and simply enjoyed being young. From the amazing talent competition, to our meaningful Praise & Worship, good food, nonstop bonding, and of course, the disco night.

A special appreciation to Hon. Trexy Ann Neri, SK Chairperson of Brgy. Bonoy, who spearheaded this fellowship night. Your initiative and dedication truly helped make this event possible.

Daghang salamat sa tanang kabatan-onan, youth organizations, SK Chairpersons, volunteers, performers, organizers, and everyone who showed up and made this night extra special. Your energy and participation made this celebration truly memorable.

This is what youth participation looks like, showing up, connecting with one another, celebrating our uniqueness, and building a stronger youth community together.

𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐆𝐎 𝐍𝐆 𝐊𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐀𝐍 2026 | 𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌

📍 27 August 2026 | Matag-ob Municipal Gymnasium, Matag-ob, Leyte

From the streets of Matag-ob to the heart of youth leadership 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐆𝐎 𝐍𝐆 𝐊𝐀𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐀𝐀𝐍 2026 came together for a meaningful and empowering culminating program!

We started the day with the 2026 Linggo ng Kabataan Parade, bringing together young people from different barangays and youth organizations as we celebrated our shared dreams, voices, and aspirations.

The program was headed by Dan Carlo D. Pabrualinan, concurrent In-Charge of the MPDO, together with his good office and the SK Chairperson of Brgy. Bulak, Hon. Kinny Rose Ceniza, whose efforts helped make this celebration possible.

We were inspired by the message of Hon. Bernardino G. Tacoy, Municipal Mayor, reminding the youth that our voices, choices, and actions matter in building a better Matag-ob.

We were also honored with a special video presentation from Usec. Joseph Francisco “Jeff” R. Ortega, Chairperson of the National Youth Commission, followed by a meaningful keynote speech from Rodel S. Catapal, Provincial Youth Development Officer of the Province of Leyte, who challenged the youth to continue becoming active, responsible, and empowered members of the community.

But the learning didn’t stop there!

Discussed by 𝐋𝐓𝐂 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐨 𝐌. 𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧 (𝐈𝐍𝐅) 𝐏𝐀, equipping the youth with knowledge and awareness on preparedness, responsibility, and community resilience.

And of course, this celebration would not have been possible without the people who showed up and made it meaningful. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the Local Government Unit of Matag-ob, our dedicated partners and stakeholders, and especially the Matag-ob Stand-Alone Senior High School Marching Band for adding energy and color to our parade.

To all SK Chairpersons who showed up, participated, and stood with the youth of Matag-ob, thank you for your time, support, and commitment. Your presence made this celebration even more meaningful. 🤝🏻

And to the Municipal Public Youth Development Office (MPYDO), led by Dan Carlo D. Pabrualinan, LPT, thank you for tirelessly helping us organize, coordinate, and bring this celebration to life. Behind every successful activity are people who work quietly, coordinate endlessly, and make things happen and we are truly grateful for all your efforts. 💙

As part of the 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐨 𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 2026 celebration, the youth of Matag-ob came together for a meaningful and empowering 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 held at the LnB Hall last August 25, 2026, spearheaded by 𝐌𝐏𝐘𝐃𝐎 𝐎𝐈𝐂 & 𝐌𝐏𝐃𝐂, 𝐒𝐢𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞.

This leadership training was more than just a seminar it was a space to learn, reflect, and discover what it truly means to be a youth leader who leads with purpose and serves with accountability.

SESSION 1: The Foundations of Youth Leadership
Facilitated by PPSKM President, Hon. Aiyanna Patrice M. Laurente, the session focused on Leadership, Roles, Responsibilities, Values, Accountability, and Effective Youth Leadership.
From knowing our roles to understanding our responsibilities, the session reminded us that leadership is not about the title we carry, but about the impact we create and the people we choose to serve.

SESSION 2: Leading Through People & Challenges
Facilitated by Ms. Sharmaine Dela Cerna, Vice President of Junior Chamber International (JCI), the session explored Leadership Styles, Communication, Conflict Management, and Teamwork. Because real leadership isn't always about having the answers, it’s about knowing how to communicate, listen, collaborate, handle conflicts, and bring people together.

Padayon, Kabataan! May we continue to grow as leaders who are responsible, compassionate, accountable, and ready to take action. Different backgrounds, different experiences, different perspectives but one common aspiration: to make a difference.
