The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and the Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Office, together with Federation of Persons with Disability Association of the Province of Davao Oriental, joins the nation in celebrating 'The International Day of Persons with Disabilities' today, December 3, 2024. with the theme "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable future"🧑‍🦽🧑‍🦽🧑‍🦽

🧑‍🦽This annual celebration was Established by the United Nations in 1992, IDPD promotes the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities. This day raise awareness of the barriers faced by persons with disabilities and to advocate for the full inclusion and equal participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society.

The Persons with Disability Affairs Office and The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office together with the Provincial Health Office in partnership with the Tebow Cure Children's Hospital spearheaded and successfully conducted the 1st Provincial Mobile Screening for Persons with Special Needs in celebration with the National Disability Rights Week with a theme: ' Promoting Inclusion: Celebrating Abilities and Advocating Access' on August 5, 2024

This event was participated by 1 (one) component City and ten (10)Municipalities. All PDAOs and Focal Person were assigned to take-charge of their patients (Persons with Disabilitiy) for screening, and for bringing them to the designated venue.

It was graced by the presence, and inspirational messages coming from our dear Governor through his representative Mr. Everindo L. Esver, Chief of Staff, Ms. Juvy G. Bonita, RSW, Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer, Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, Provincial Health Officer, PDAO Designate of the Province of Davao Oriental, and Ptr. Elias Dacera, Spriritual Director, Tebow Cure.

Followed by the distribution of cheques (educational/financial assistance), assistive devices, and food packs to qualified recepients of this province.

10 municipalities and city come together for a vis-a-vis and talk about the accomplishments and updates as it shed on light in the importance of creating a more inclusive and accessible work environment that values the contributions of all individuals , including those with disabilities. The meeting speaks about the society would instead look at what makes them different. The Provincial government focuses on the activities , issues, and concerns that are related to PWD's in the province, the priority is to track and perform systems to ensure the protection of PWD's political, civil rights, advocacies and privileges of a PWD.

The Provincial Persons with Disability Affairs Office together with the Provincial Social Welfare & Development Office in the Province of Davao Oriental, conducts the Program Review, Evaluation & Planning Workshop for the CY -2024 on November 30 – December 1, 2023 at Honeys Hotel, Matiao , City of Mati, Davao Oriental. That speaks to the adversity of people with disabilities in the locality as the individuals who possess potential for success, and identify them by their abilities not by disability. This meeting serves as an outlet to exchange ideas, Innovate, collaborate with all the municipalities and city in the province.

Guests were Mr. Elias Dacera, TEBOW CURE Representative, whom offered a hand to help the province of Davao Oriental in giving services to the PWDs and presented their program & services pertaining to PWD’s, and also Sir Luis Colaba, DepEd Focal Person for PWDs who also presented the arising figures of children with disability in the academe/ Special Needs Educations (SNED) accross the province of Davao Oriental.
