DOPPO KICKS OFF NATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION WEEK 2026

The Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO), led by PCOL JOSEPH A FAJARDO, JR., Provincial Director, kicked off the National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) 2026, with the theme, "Strengthening Civilian Oversight and Collective Action For Safer Communities", held this morning at DOPPO Compound, Brgy. Dahican, City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

A significant part of the program was the ceremonial blowing of whistles, which formally signaled the opening of the week-long observance and served as a symbol of the collective commitment to crime prevention and community safety.

Atty. Anna Khristine C. Mongaya - Magno, Officer-In-Charge, Office of the City Prosecutor, graced the said occasion as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. During her speech, Atty. Magno emphasized that crime prevention is a shared responsibility that requires the combined efforts of the police, prosecutors, other law enforcement agencies, and the community. Drawing from her experience in public legal service and prosecution, she highlighted the importance of proper investigation and the timely gathering, preservation, and presentation of evidence to build strong criminal cases and support successful prosecution.

She further stressed that effective crime prevention begins with competent and knowledgeable investigators who can properly handle cases from the start. When law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and the community work together in pursuing justice and building strong cases, potential offenders are discouraged, helping create safer, more orderly, and peaceful communities for families and future generations.

"Crime prevention is not the job of the police alone. It requires a concerted effort among law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and the community. When we work together to build strong cases and uphold justice, we help create a safer and more peaceful place for our families and children,” she said.

The said ceremony was also attended and participated in by Pastor Dan Lamar Vistal, DOPPO officers, PNCOs, NUPs and other guests.
