The City of Mati took the international stage as Mayor Joel Mayo Almario addressed Asian members of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World (MBBW) today during its 2026 Asia Regional Conference in Ramada Hotel, Yeosu, South Korea.

Mayor Almario shared Mati’s story as a city “where the mountains meet the sea,” highlighting Pujada, Mayo, and Balete Bays and the city’s efforts in marine conservation and sustainable development. He emphasized that while bays may be separated by thousands of kilometers, our oceans are connected and their future is a shared responsibility.

The conference provided Mati an international platform to share its conservation initiatives, strengthen cooperation with coastal communities across Asia, and promote the city’s natural wonders and tourism potential to the world, bringing the beauty of Mati and its bays to a wider global audience.

Joining Mayor Almario in representing Mati were CPDO Head Herville Pajaron, CiENRO Head Jovelyn Lugo,CIO in-charge Albert Egot, Jr. and resort owner Nancy Almario. | CIO
