Because of the ongoing road clearing operations, the office, together with the City Engineer’s Office, removed signage posts along Rizal Street that encroached on the road right-of-way, in order to establish a clear and unobstructed walkway or sidewalk.

The LGU is grateful for the cooperation of the business establishments that own these posts and for raising no objections to their removal.

Officer-in-Charge Engr. Jerry D. Antipolo, together with Inspection and Enforcement Division Head Engr. Vanessa P. Respecia, attended the coordination meeting on the processing and application of building permits, hosted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineering Office of Davao Oriental.

The meeting was attended by municipal engineers/building officials from other municipalities of the 2nd District of Davao Oriental, along with personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection. It served as a venue to align procedures, requirements, and timelines for the issuance of building permits, address common issues encountered during the application process, clarify technical concerns, and promote a more efficient and streamlined system between the office and the DPWH.

Subay kini sa Office of the President Memorandum Circular No. 114 ug DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-023 alang sa istriktong pagdaginot og enerhiya sa mga opisina sa gobyerno.

Ubos sa Memorandum Order No. 035 nga gipagula ni Mayor Joel Mayo Almario, ang bag-ong compressed work schedule ipahigayon gikan Lunes hangtod Huwebes, sugod alas 8:00 sa buntag hangtod alas 7:00 sa gabii. Sakop niini ang tanang regular, Job Order (JO), ug Contract of Service (COS) nga mga empleyado aron makompleto ang 40 ka oras nga trabaho matag semana.

Magpabilin ang operasyon sa mga opisina nga naghatag og mahinungdanong serbisyo sama sa seguridad, panglawas, emergency response, merkado, terminal, ug slaughterhouse. Ang Office of the Building Official nagpadayon sa pagpahigayon sa Operation MAMA (Mamalihug ug Maghimagno). Sa maong operasyon, ginahangyo ang tanang residente ug mga establisyemento nga makigtambayayong sa road clearing operations subay sa mandato sa Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), ingon man sa inspeksyon sa mga building nga walay hustong permit.

Ang opisina magpadayon sa pagtuman sa iyang mandato sa pagpatuman sa National Building Code of the Philippines, aron masiguro ang kaluwasan sa kinabuhi, kabtangan, ug sa kinatibuk-ang kahapsay sa komunidad.

The Office of the Building Official was honored to host last Monday's flag ceremony. We were able to present our mandate that is to implement the PD 1096 or the National Building Code of the Philippines and other technical codes and regulations to protect the lives, property, and safety of the people.

Amoa usab gipasabot nga ang proseso sa pagkuha og building permit dili trabaho sa OBO lamang. This is a collaborative effort with other offices such as the City Planning Office para Location and Zoning Clearance, aron masiguro nga ang proyekto tugma sa zoning ordinance ug land use plan ug sa Bureau of Fire Protection pra Fire Safety Certificate, aron masiguro nga ang building compliant sa fire safety standards.

These principles were also emphasized:
1. Permit first before build — because safety starts in planning.
2. Compliance first before occupancy — because safety must be proven before use.

Ginaengganyo sab namo ang publiko nga i-report ang illegal constructions sa among opisina. Our goal is not to create disputes. Again, our goal is to ensure safer buildings and resilient communities.

The office also conducts Annual Building Inspections especially to commercial buildings. It is mandated as well in the National Building Code and is primarily done to ensure that buildings remain safe, compliant, and properly maintained even after construction has been completed.

Let us continue to uphold discipline in construction, compliance with the law, and shared responsibility for public safety.
